Ok. Amphetamine has an effect on norepinephrine and dopamine. Remember that norepinephrine is used as both a neurotransmitter and a hormone. L-amphetamine likes to do the same cool things that it does to norepinephrine in the brain as it does in the body. Well.. blood vessels + norepinephrine = constricted blood vessels = high blood pressure. It has other effects, but that tends to be the most obvious one.

I hear about these claims all the time about l-amp but no one seems to have a reference :( I need some real scientific studies.

I haven't had much time lately, and it seems that little is researched about L-amphetamine beyond it's effecacy in ADHD as compared to D-amphetamine, so I don't have any direct citations. I originally took the above from a set of university lecture notes. There are many references to this in academics, I believe though.

Amphetamine effects
Amphetamine enhances the actions of noradrenaline and dopamine in the brain and the rest of the body. The brain contains nerve cells that release noradrenaline and others that release dopamine. The rest of the body does not contain the dopamine releasing nerve cells, only the noradrenaline releasing nerve cells.

Amphetamine effects on the body are due to increased release of noradrenaline from nerve endings in various organ systems. The effects on the heart are significant, increasing heart rate and force of contraction. Amphetamines can cause urinary retention by contracting the sphincter and relaxing the bladder. The effects on the gastrointestinal system are unpredictable.

As far as data concerning the differences between D-amphetamine and L-amphetamine in this respect, I have yet to locate anything on this. If you have access to any of the materials at the bottom of this article, those might be of help too. As far as if L-amphetamine has any significant effect on epinephrine (as opposed to norepinephrine) in thereputic doses... I am not sure. There are publicized measurements that show this is true of methylphenidate, but I'm not sure about D,L-amphetamine.

I have yet to find any clinical studies comparing Adderall and Dexedrine in this respect as well. Some studies have found that Adderall doesn't cause a significant increase in blood pressure, where others have. I guess it depends on one's sample....

a heart rate is different then blood pressure, working out on adderall only gives a 133 HeartRate, cool. not so bad, it's pretty darn healthy. . . for a heart work-out.

adderall is healthier then before, apparently.. . now go think about that! parents! go to the room, and take some adderall, j/k, find a way to nab some, though honestly
