Does anyone have any experience of taking Ritalin with prozac.
Someone i know has been on Prozac for the last 8 years for clinical depression.
A recent diagnoses of Attention Deficit Hypertensive Disorder was made. This isnt somthing i ever heard of either.
The psych prescribed ritalin for this to be taken as well as the prozac.
Currently she is taking,
15mg ritalin at 8am 12-30pm and 4-30pm
20mg of prozac once daily
Sleep is a huge problem forher and so they are also drinking around 6 shots of either vodca or rum.
All i know is that it says on the Concerta leaflet that the Concerta can affect how the proza is handled by the body.
Does anyone have any info on this, or links where i might get some.

I am checking, yes you asked...
In a gentle and friendly way
I'm going to put some stuff into a Private Message. You have my explicit permission to repost it here if you wish...
Give me a few minutes to collect what i can for you.
Wait.
I need to ask some others here about this... mean time, could you be very specific, again, about what you are asking for? I am frequently dense, and I don't 'figure it out myself" really very well. i've learned to ask... again if I need to.
Thanks for you patience with me.
David
Point taken, lesson learned, i promiss to be less forward in my opinions in future.
Essentially the person in question is paying for this "help" and isnt entirly sure she is getting good facts.
While she knows that Concerta may affect how Prozac is handled by the body (the leaflet said so) she doesnt know how.
Someone told her that combinations like that can cause serious damage, though not what kind.
She isnt exactly computer literate (mildy phobic of them i would say) and asked me to see what i could find.
When i put in a few searches on Google all i got was sales prices of the drugs and some majorly arguementative stuff about Drugging children and ritalin abuse..
She isnt functioning well right now and is wondering if it is the drugs, her ADHD (H for Hypertension in this case) not being controled or if she is just plain being ripped off.
So essentialy i was fishing for any kind of info anyone might have on this combination of drugs.

For starters, the drugs OUTSIDE the prescriptions are a major complicating factor.
this really requires a component of professional involvement.
In my opinion there seem to me to be multiple problems in this situation, of which perhaps a one of the less urgent ones, have been asked about.
I'm quite uncomfortable about me going to far here... i hope I haven't already.

I'm sorry, I did not mean to encourage you to be less forward. But then there might be some interesting American vs. English subtle meaning thing going on here.
I too think the combination of ALL three drugs is questionable and possibly dangerous.
Alcohol is known to CAUSE depression, so I would be surprised if that were part of a medical plan, but I am no doctor, which is why I suggested some professional involvement.
I respect a process of getting a 2nd opinion, without undue disrespect.
Hope that clears it up a bit.
It is quite common for people with AD/HD to take both Stimulants and SSRIs. Prozac is an SSRI. I'm not quite sure about prozac but I am aware of many people who take stimulants with other SSRI's.
Alchohol should not be mixed with most meds. It's not good for anybody to be doing 6 shot a night.
If she is having trouble sleeping she should talk to the Dr incase her dosage of ritalin is too high or not the correct med for her.She should also ask the Dr about the possiblity of anxiety.
