Oh thank god. Today I get my adderall refill. Well, actually, it's not today, it's really tomorrow - but rather than waste unnecessary time, I choose to instead commute to my local 24-hour CVS, at midnight the day before, and under cover of darkness, to cash in my script and score these most precious amphetamine salts.

Refill day is a very special time for me, because I always run out of my meds early. But don't think for a second that this is due to my abusing them. It's simply because my doctor is too stupid and ignorant to give me the amount I need!

I'm speechless... I really am. I don't think this is normal behavior.

I thought abuse was taking any more then is indicated on the box (if it's an OTC medication), or in the case of Rx only medication (ADDERALL) abuse is taking any more then your Dr has prescribed you. If you are taking more than your Dr. said you should take then someone might think you're abusing them, so be careful, above all tell your Dr you are taking more then he prescribed you and say that you are taking the amount you need and that he needs to prescribe you the amount you need, if he tells you not to take that amount then you know you are abusing them.
Why would you need to go to get a refill at 12pm? Why don't you just get a good nights sleep and wait till morning and go to your local pharmacy on your a commute to school or work?

The title of the post explains it all

He's a New Yorker, this is normal behavior for us. We are used to getting hot bagels every morning and our Sunday paper on Saturday night. You got a problem with that??? ;)

Really though, it would be better if you get what you need prescribed. How much does he script you and how many days do you go without?

O ya, city that never sleeps i forgot

Maybe the reason this guy thinks he needs so much Adderall is becuase he's not getting as much sleep as he should and is trying to fight off fatigue, GET SLEEP YOU NEW YAWKCAZ :)

ok, i don't know you and i can't really judge you as such. just be aware of one thing; your behavior is basically textbook drug abuse.

I'm fairly sure i've never gotten this excited over my meds. Point of fact, i usually get in trouble for NOT taking my meds. My psych is always like "so david, how much medication would you say you have left over?" And i just usually respond "well, you probably don't need to write me a script for this month.":D

In Illinois (the S is silent, you got a problem not saying that?), a person has 7 days to fill a Schedule II scrip. I often get it filled on day 6 or 7. It is Oops, better get this filled of the doc will have to write another one...

Not enough meds? If you truly need a higher therapeutic dose, talk to your doc about increasing it. You don't say how you are taking now, but each person's needs are different. If you run out early you are not following the dosing schedule and this is highly suspicious behavior. Maybe a second opinion is needed or take a good honest look at what is happening and what you are doing and see if you are crossing the line into abuse or at the least, misuse. Too much of a good thing? You got some tough answers here, but be assured, they are motivated by concern for your health and mental well-being. Please do not feel condemned or judged, we are not here for that. We will be frank and honest when needed or Bert and Ernie if you like!

Now, if I dropped a Concerta down the sink or spilled them on the floor-I might lose a couple, but that would be made up on the days I forget to take it!

The one time I could associate with this topic was when my wife accidentally spilled half of my just-filled prescription in the toilet while she was cleaning the bathroom (my fault, I guess; the cap wasn't on tight). All of the pills spilled out, mind you; some wound up on the toilet seat, others around and behind the toilet (even more disgusting, IMO), and the rest went in the toilet itself and quickly turned the water bright blue. I took a snapshot and asked my doctor if I could get a refill, but the answer was no due to insurance confusions, so I was left with half a bottle of pills that had been on or around the toilet. Needless to say, I was very enthused to get my next prescription for a full bottle of clean pills.

I keep my medications in a lock box because I have two kids. I put one Adderall in a small container every night that sits next to my bed so I can take it one hour before the alarm goes off. Leaving medication lying around most likely will result in numerous things that can and will go wrong.
My problem is every time I try to get a pill out of the bottle 3 or 4 drop on the floor and I have to look for them. This sucks not being able to hold on to anything especially when I have a 5-year-old. But the point being lock up our medication and not leave it sitting around the house.
I better stop now before I get kicked out of here. LOL

Hey, I don't mean to be offtopic and dweebish, but tammy- how do you take it before the alarm goes off? Do you wake up sort of spontaneously, swallow, go to sleep and then BEEP BEEP an hour later?

LOL fellow worker - you took the words out of my mouth. I also wanted to know why you can't hold on to anything (do you have parkinsons or MS or something?)

I totally agree that you should lock up your meds if you have children in the house.

If your dose is to low and they wont up it find another doctor. I can kind understand I take 40mg of dex a day and look forward to taken it because it deffintly helps me but before i found the right dossage i was running short at the end of the month and looked forward to the next refill. Now that im at the right dose I dont have that promblem anymore.

Fellow worker, my husband's alarm goes off an hour before mine does and it wakes me up too. He gets up and gets ready for work and I take the pill and go back to sleep.

At Heart, I don't have MS or anything I'm just real clumsy and don't pay attention to what I'm doing (the medication helps, but the meds out of my system when I get into the pill bottle at night). I bump into things and have bruises all over when I'm not medicated. Some days I try to pick something up and drop it 3 or 4 times before I can hang on to it. I just have serious issues is all I can say, and it sucks real real real bad. I had some real serious insecurites about myself, but feel better since I started taking Adderall.

Hope that clears it up for ya
