I just took a test that there was a link for. It said I scored 42 (I think 25 was severe ADHD). I don't have insurance for myself...my question is: Does anyone know how to get help for ADHD without insurance??

My 10 year old has severe ADHD, everyone says she gets that from me! I think that if I had some help for myself that the house would run a lot smoother! I get everything accomplished and the kids where they are suppose to go, yet, it is chaos doing it!

This family is already over scheduled, without my palm pilot (my brain) I wouldn't know the appointments, or get anyone any where on time!LOL:p

Any suggestions???

What about a clinic? Maybe, their fees are lower. Possibly...

What about your state funded medical program?

Here it is called Kid Care Illinois. It's funded mostly by federal money and in the last 3 years has included coverage for parents of qualifying families.

There should be a similar program in your state.

Let me know if you have trouble finding it...or even trouble wading through the paperwork. I had our family signed up for it for about 3 years here. Wading through and getting the correct ppwk submitted took a lot of reading and asking questions...but it wasn't very difficult.

Yep, that's what I used when I first got dx and went of my mom's insurance, they had a government clinic...Mental Health/Mental Retardation..and I was able to go there...for free, and once I got back to work, it was a sliding scale fee.

If your child qualifies for help, you should too.

Hope :)

My kids qualify for medical coupons but every year we make just a little too much for me to qualify...borderline...kinda sucks!

My husbands' job pays for him, the employee, + $20.00 he pays a month. It costs $250.00 a month to add me to his insurance.

I bartend which doesn't offer medical. I have a computer degree  , but I have to work nights since he works days so that someone (me) can get the kids to all the functions, soccer practices, soccer games, appointments, homework done, meals ready, to and from school, be at home with my youngest during the day, etc., etd., etc.!!!

I am going through a medical transcription program (online) that I will probably finish in a few months. I am doing this course so that I can get a job where I can work at home (for the kids). Working nights can make me a "Zombie" in the mornings when I still have to function! Maybe that employer will offer medical.

:) Thanks for all the advice!!! I will still ask the state if they have any other options for me!

Ask your doctor, too; there might be some way to get "samples" in some substantial quantity. And some drug companies have programs; doesn't hurt to ask.
