I would like to know if any one has good software to rip music from vinyl lp's and if there is any special hardware that I need. I curently hooked up my stereo to my computer from the headphones to my mic in on the puter. I down loaded some software that I am trying on a trial basis. it is Ultimate Audio Recorder but every time i try to record i get an error message and it shuts the program down. We have many many lps and would like to be able to do this. thanks all.:)

Try open-source Audacity (http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/) if you're looking to save some money.
If you've got money to burn then go for Sony Soundforge (Search pricegrabber.com (http://www.pricegrabber.com) or some such.)
