Hello. I am new to the board, but not new to adderall. I took 15mg IR, 20mg XR, and 30mg Xr in high school. I had two straight years of great grades, and quit when I came to college (I can not tell you why, because I don't even remember). I am inattentive ADD, but it was caught late. I am not wild, in fact I'm pretty calm and chill. My exact diagnosis was "Inattentive ADD with OC tendencies."

However, after two years of horrid grades, I started taking my 15mg IR again. Bam. Back in the game. However, recently I have been having a cup of coffee right before I take my adderall. In fact, it makes things worse. I get really scattered, the same way I get if I drink coffee and don't take adderall. It's horrid. I tried an Enviga the other day and it had a similar affect, albeit more concentration. So, I would like a slight caffiene boost, but for some reason, coffee seems to mess my concentration up. Does this happen to anyone else?

Geesh. I just read my post. As you can see, my day without adderall is horrible. Finals are here and I am kinda worried. Any suggestions from others here on what to drink/not drink in the mornings with my 15 IR? As far as diet goes, I recently started a low carb/high protein/moderate fat shredding diet (I'm a personal trainer) so I don't know if this has an affect either. All I know is coffee and adderall don't work for me.

Help!

I don't seem to have any problems taking adderall and a couple smallish cups of coffee or something. In fact, I've only experienced some slight agitation a number of times on the drug. Very very few side effects...

It's interesting to see how many extremes there are between people.

According to Shire, the makers of Adderall, a high Ph level in your GI track will decrease the absorbtion of its key, active ingredients (four amphetamine salts). Caffeine increases the amount of acids produced in the stomach, thus increasing the Ph level and decreasing the amount of amphetamines absorbed. The average cup of slow drip coffee has from 60 to 120 milligrams of caffeine.

Something that works for me:

I love coffee, so its integraded with my daily dose of Adderall in one way or another. The method that seems to work best for me if I must have coffee is to take the Adderall first and wait 15 - 30 mins untill I drink caffeine. Shire does not reccomened eating any antacids close to the time of dosing your Adderall, but I do it anyway when I get heartburn from caffeine. ** EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT METABOLISM, AND A DIFFERENT REACTION TO FOODS/DRUGS ECT. [QUOTE=Jonathanaf]Hello.

Hi Jonathan,
What is Enviga?

I have always been very careful w citric acid and frankly it has affected my diet in a negative way; I take the regular release Adderall so it always seems I am blowing off something healthy due to just taking it or that the time to take it is coming up.
I have been in denial about the acid in coffee, but it makes perfect sense.
As I posted on another thread, caffeine in other forms like tea or Red Bull seem to work better for my concentration, perhaps it is because acids in coffee are affecting the Adderall? Or they simply contain less caffeine overall?

I'm a diet pepsi junkie and I also take Adderall XR. The constant flood of highly acidic soda totally kills my Adderall XR duration. At tops I get about 5 hours, maybe 6 on a good day.

Food slows down adderall big time so I skip lunch or else my 2nd Adderall dose takes forever to kick in.
