I have been taking 10mg 2X daily for about a year now and it's worked great. As I stated in another thread, I've experienced very few if any side effects from Adderall. But, I do understand the tolerance & build-up that many people experience.

I've been working much longer days lately being in school and working a full time job. There have been some days where I would hav liked to have the option mid-morning/day dose. I thought at one time 10mg 2X daily was enough... but with more going on... well maybe not.

What I would like to do is continue taking my regular dosage but simply have the option for a third.

Is this a normal transition for someone on adderall? It seems to make sense for me.

Not really sure what my doc will say though, for some reason, maybe the way society looks at drugs... I always feel sort of greasy about it... drugs r bad ummkay.

I have found that it was/is always best to tell my Dr. exactly what I felt I needed at a given time. That does not mean that my Dr. always gave me what ever I felt I needed, but the prescriptions he did give me would have likely taken much longer to come about if I had never brought them up, I believe.

I have also found that being as well informed as I can possibly be about the drugs that I talk to my Dr. about has been very beneficial for me. For example, when I first read about Desoxyn, I was shocked that it even existed, and I was shocked that I had never heard of it. When I informed my Dr. about all that I had learned about Desoxyn at the next visit, he told me that he had never heard of it, so he pulled out his PDR and looked it up and said, "Wow! I'm surprised I've never heard of this."

I guess my point here is that if I had'nt mentioned Desoxyn to my Dr, that Desoxyn would likely have never been prescribed to me. Your Dr is trained very well in how to identify drug seeking behavior, and asking for one therapy over another therapy is something that patients and Drs often do. Most Drs are pretty good at detecting when someone is not seeking a drug for recreational purposes. That being said, I would suggest that you have nothing to lose by being honest about this with your Dr, and you have much to gain.

A lot of people do that... it would have been ideal if you told your doc before that the dose wore off early. I'm guessing you just didn't need to do anything the rest of the day before. Just be honest and I'm sure your doc will go for it.

You need to be firm in your decision of what to tell your doc. They don't necessarily know what is best for you all of the time. Don't let your doc talk you out of something you're sure you want. It actually makes their job easier if you have opinions on your treatment.

Yea, he was cool with it. I guess I don't appear to be a threat.

Also, he knows I frequent boards like this and keep up with the news on Adderall.
