Hey everyone,
I've been on Adderall XR 30mg for about 3 1/2 years, and within the past year I've noticed that the my body has become tolerant of the doseage. So I experimented with Ritalin at the beginning of this month (NOT the best thing to due during finals..) and I can honestly say that I don't like it at all. I can see how it would work for hyperactive kids but as for me, someone with just ADD, I don't find it to help at all. I've been thinking about going back to Adderall, but seeing as XR has a maximum doseage of 30mg, I don't know what I could do to better my situation. I was thinking maybe I could add regular Adderall to my 30mg of XR and see if that works, but I don't even know if that is even possible. Seeing as my doctor doesn't know much about ADD, he pretty much just goes along with anything that I mention, so if anyone has any suggestions of what they did in this type of situation I would really appreciate it!

Thanks

Edward

Maybe switch to DextroStat or Dexedrine Spansules, the new Vyvanse might be nice for you too, but it's not prescribable till July.

Jamie, you can go above 30mg on XR it is just "off label." Did your doctor say you can't go above the FDA recommendation?

JamieJo88- Once you felt that your body had developed tolerance to the maximum Adderall dosage, did you feel reasonably certain that you were not getting any benefit from the drug at all? I'm wondering if there are any subtle benefits from the drug in which you may have grown accustomed to and may now be taking for granted. I take several "drug vactaions" from adderall to try and thwart tolerance. I've noticed however that when I do stay on adderall for a longer period of time, the noticable BIG benefits I was getting from the drug start to subside, but there are still SMALL benefits that remain. I am still marginally more functional and alert than I would be without it.
