I'm just about to start my final practicum in nursing, and I was scribbling some things I need in order to learn. So I'm curious, what's on your list?
This is mine...
1)Feedback
This is very crucial in my learning. I need some kind of interaction with my teachers, otherwise I find I tend to get a bit lost. I need to know if I'm on the right path...could I be doing better... etc.
2) Clarification
One of the things that I think those of us with ADD need to understand is that our signals may tend to get crossed easier than for others. I may think I understand something, but find out with great disaster after that in fact, I didn't. :eyebrow: :( So I think clarification is essential!! Can't live without it!
3)Timeline
I don't know about you, but I need a timeline or some kind of idea about when people expect things back from me. Otherwise, it goes into that black hole of procrastination!
Also.. I can't stand vagueness and ambiguity. Drives me insane! Which leads me to my next point....
4) Specify!
I need people to be pretty conscise and definite with me. I find it hard to do things if I don't have a clear idea of what's expected. For example, in my practicum I'm probably going to have to do bed baths for 4 different patients. I need to know that this task needs to be done by X time, otherwise I will find stuff to fill it!
So have you given any thought to what your learning needs are, as someone with ADD?
