View Full Version : final grades
auntchris 05-14-07, 11:52 AM Does everyone know how they did final grades?
I am bursting inside.
Instructor just posted grades.
I did quite well,
History.... A- :D I cant believe it... I never received an A in History ever. I worked hard in this class, and the instructor was great she knew her material.
Teaching as a prof. B- worked hard too.
Diversity in edcuation.... C ... I thought I was failing I must have pulled the grade up with my final and presentation. I was lit erally failing D- / F grade.
Math ... no credit SB I received a satisfactory grade of B.
How is everyone else do? This is from someone who graduated with a 1.7 in highschool. So I am on roll. Nothing can stop me now.!!!!!!:D
I did pretty well seeing as how I graduated high school with about a 2.9.
I was NEVER diagnosed or treated for ADHD in grade school.
This was my first year of college. First Semester: 2 A's and 4 B's - 3.2 GPA
Second Semester: 2 A's, 2 B's, and 1 C - 3.231 GPA
I finished with a 3.214 Cumulative GPA.
Your grades look good auntchris, keep it up!
eric
auntchris 05-14-07, 10:27 PM thanks eric, your grades dont look bad either.
I am really excited about my grades. I wasnt expecting a A- in history.
I am on my way now... thanks for replying.
auntchris 05-14-07, 11:26 PM thanks imnapl , it wasa tough semester. thanks again.
ADizzyGirl 05-14-07, 11:32 PM Congrats Chris :D
I got my grades today and did better than I expected.. don't know HOW I pulled that off yet again! I spend the last three weeks of every semester a stress-ridden mess, then end up doing fine grade-wise. Up to a 3.81 cumulative after 3 years.
CrAcKerKoReaN 05-15-07, 09:02 PM Good job AC!!!!!
I got my grades back today and found out I got all A's. I dont think that has ever happened in all of my schooling.
I thought I blew two of my finals but I guess I did well enough. Now for the summer to start.
That's terrific, Aunt Chris. From a 1.7, is even more impressive. You've figured out how your mind works, it seems; for some of us, that's the trick.
I've gotten my Associate's Degree about ten years ago, and have last year started chipping away at prereq's for my Bachelors. Will most likely start in August. Now, when I did the AS degree, I was able to totally focus my life on it, I hardly worked, and I got A's and B's. We'll see how it goes now, when my life is so thinly spread. But I need to have some kind of challenge for my mind, I feel like my life is stagnating. And I already HAVE my RN, so all I'm doing now is getting the BSN. When I get it my pay will increase a WHOLE DOLLAR an hour; I'm not doing this for the money, fersure.
auntchris 05-16-07, 11:15 AM Piglet thanks so much. I have had time to figure out life. I am not 48 yr of age. I know I sound younger. I am also on medication: Strattera and Celexa and in high school I was on ly on my anticonvulsant medications. The medication along with therapy works. As you know being a nurse, one doesnt work to the fullest extent for certain disorders, you really need both.
Kuddos to you too A's and B's are great. I am thankful for the C . I was failing that class so a C is like an A for that class.
What is an BRN. Bachlor Registered Nurse?

Way to go. I think I will be doing that next yr. I am already signed up at the college. I may take a class at the communtity college next yr. I still have to check to see if my bio classes will transfer. :foot:
sconard82 05-24-07, 01:53 PM I got a 3.86 overall. I'm pretty happy with it, especially since I got a 4.0 in all my upper division classes. Only got a 3.3 in French, which is what lowered my GPA, but oh well.
auntchris 05-24-07, 08:08 PM oh my goodness, I would love a 3.3
I did well last semester and was pleased with my grades.
sconard82 05-24-07, 11:32 PM Well, I put way too much time into school last semester. Even ended a relationship because of it, so the 3.3 bothers me. ;)

there were many words of wisdom from the board of education and
the principle teachers and validictorian.
Many speeches, songs and the ceromony.
When You come down to it
It isnt the grade that counts
It is life and what you have learned along the way
and how you deal with the obstacles during the bump part of the ride.
I am sorry to hear about the break up
Do you think this might be telling you something,
Do one thing, and do it well. Dont spread yourself too thin.
I know thing like that hurt. It will teach you alesson in the long run.
AsmodeanForsakn 06-06-07, 01:45 PM I have my exams next week (Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri and all except the monday one are 9am- AAARGGHHHHH!!!). I still am waiting for my final in-semester marks for Economics but the other have been all above 33/50 so far so that has taken some pressure off me just before exams. My Legal Framework has been 43.5/50 so I am absolutely amazed about that, as I have only been on meds for a couple of weeks, but I had suspected for a fair while that I was ADD & pushed myself to try to hold myself together long enough to get assessed. But if I can repeat the experience of the midsemester tests (zoning out & hyperfocusing) I reckon I should be all right. I am hoping for good marks as I am on "conditional" status & want to get back to "good status". Apparently as I had a course weighted average for the course I failed 20 years ago of 48.something I was automatically given "conditional" status (ie don't fail anything or else you are out) when I re-entered uni this year. I can't wait to get these exams over with!!!
auntchris 06-06-07, 03:43 PM what semester are you in now. I starteed summer semester. I have Art history at the moment. I am glad to here everyone is doing so well. I have a quiz next week ... I have to make an appointment in the disabiltiy offiice the teacher is great. He wants everyone to do their best.
I talked to him after class the other day and the class is taking the quiz today and told me I can take it next week. The quiz will encompass slide, for me they will be picutres , to idenify and definitions and a small essay, like a compare and contrast papter. One side.
AsmodeanForsakn 06-08-07, 02:51 PM I am in my first semester after failing out 20 years ago. I was able to go straight back to my original course because I had a course-weighted average of over 48% -enough to fail out in the first place but also enough for them to give me a second chance! And I have been able to grab that chance with both hands. I guess the way semester averages are worked out and reported is a lot different in the US than it is here in Australia, I have absolutely no idea what a 3.2 means! As far as I understand the marking system with my uni, 50-60% is a credit, 61-75% (I think) is a distinction and above that is a high distinction. I finally got my last internal marks back today and with economics I only need 5/50 inthe final exam to pass the unit then law I only need 6.5/50! The most I need is 17/50 in any of my exams to pass the unit. I did great in my midsemester tests by zoning out so I guess my hyperfocussing worked! I will be glad when the exams are over because I never have handled exams very well, despite how well I did in the midsemester ones

A 3.2 is the grade point average of the students work.
The system in the US is calculated as follows:
A= 4 A- = 3.7 or some think to that effect.
B= 3
C= 2 and so on...
So, last semester I received a A and the class was worth 4 credits.
Hence an A is 4 pts and an A grade is 4pts. So 4x4=16 The school figures out all your grades with that scale and divdes by the number of credits.
Last semester I had 13 credits, and got an A- a B- and C.... so my semester gpa is 2.9 and the overall was something like 2.8999
AsmodeanForsakn 06-10-07, 10:47 AM Here at my uni we work in percentages so I am still clueless about what my marks would translate into. I need 5/50 to pass economics, 6.5/50 to pass my law unit, 10.9/50 to pass my accounting and 16.4/50 to pass my management unit. I have my econs exam tomorrow but have not been able to study AT ALL since I finished doing my revision notes. I hope I zone out tomorrow... it helped a lot with my midsemester tests, the lowest mark of which was 70%
auntchris 06-10-07, 03:39 PM lets try again.
Here in the states an
A~90 %
B~ 80%
C~70%
and so forth. The way they get a grade point average is adding up all the percentages and dividing the amount of points the assignment is worth. That is for the class project.
It works the same way for your overall and semester GPA
So lets Say I got an A in Art history an A is worth four points and the class is 4 credits. So multiple the 4 pts the A is worth and the 4credits the class is worth. Okay you get 16.
If I would have received a B it would be worth 12/16 which give me an 75% in the class. Are you following?
Now if you want to figure out all the credits you have ever take you need to take the points x the credits = the percentage in the class. and divide that number by the amount of total credits you have.... okay an example, you just started college and you have taken 5 classes
3 class are worth 4 credits..... that is
1 class is worth 2
1 is worth 3
your total amout of credits is 17!
you take the grade X the credits and divide by 17 that five you your GPA.
An Example last semester I got an B in a 2 credit class so that is worth, 6 , follow?
My history class was 4 credits and an I receive an A so 4x4 = 16
my other education class was 3 credits and I received a C 3 x 3 = 9 okay
AsmodeanForsakn 06-11-07, 06:36 AM It seems that classes must be easier in the US than here - to get a pass at my uni the mark has to be 50-59%, 60-69% is a credit, 70-79% is a distinction and 80%+ is a high distinction. It seems to me that the grading system over there has been over complicated way too much! But I guess if you grow up with the system it is something that everyone is simply used to. Had my first exam today (economics) and feel like I did well. But the best news is that I will be able to switch to the Accounting/Asian Studies double degree... YAHOOOOOO!!!! All I need to do is work out what units I can do in consultation with the school of languages & complete the formalities and I will be in what I wanted to do in the first place! To be able to combine the two things I have identified as being good at makes me really happy!!
girlheartsboyx 06-15-07, 06:48 PM i failed classes up til this semester wheren i got straight A's miraculous turn around!? now that school is over im decidning to get on medication i dont ever want to struggle as much as i did to do well again.
spacewater 06-16-07, 10:16 AM Good work!
I dont know what the hell it is I always start out strong on every subject then as time goes by I just suck at what I do lol Its been going on since i can remember.
AsmodeanForsakn 06-17-07, 09:23 AM Good on you girlheartboyx, congrats on the results. I personally think that meds were the difference with me not being super-stressed in the lead up to the exams & this has helped me to do better than I might have otherwise, but I need to find a way of actually finishing the exam! I didn't quite finish 3 out of the 4 :( . I got through the management exam on Friday (all 4 exams in the first week of exam period...) the exam was as horrible as the unit! But I think I scraped enough marks to pass the unit :faint: now I have started on tidying up so that next semester the place won't be like a bomb site!
I have applied to go into the BA in Asian Studies (Mandarin)/B Commerce (Accounting) double degree & have been verbally told that I will be successful & start next semester. That is great if it happens, as it is the course I wanted to do in the first place but didn't apply for it because I was returning to uni with a "conditional" status ie (conditional that I don't fail anything) although I think I won't have to worry after this semester. Now I just have to wait for my final marks which I hope will come through next week or the week after....
auntchris 06-17-07, 12:46 PM Fantastic job girlheartboyx. Straight A's wow! that is a real acheivement. You should be proud of yourself. Let is show.
auntchris 06-23-07, 02:56 PM Will let everyone one know what my final grades are for summer semester when I find them out. I have one class now and one begins in july 2nd and runs for 6 week... crunch. so I dont know if I will find out my grades at the end of the 6 weeks for both classes or after each one is over .... I will let you know.
AsmodeanForsakn 06-26-07, 07:10 AM Good luck with the unit, & I hope you get your marks back quickly. I have to wait until 5pm July 11 until the results are released by my uni .... I just want to know now!!! I had to do my class registration today but I still haven't received my offer for the Chinese/Accounting course.... so I have done it under my existing course then will withdraw from the units I don't want to do in it when I get my offer for the double degree...
AsmodeanForsakn 07-11-07, 05:14 AM Yipee yipee yipee :) :) :) Just got my marks for my units this semester & they are GREAT!!!!!!!! I got 90% for Accounting, 78% for both Legal Framework & Economics and 70% for the Management unit!!!! I have been itching to get them & now I have a flying start for the Chinese/Accounting double degree! I am so excited, especially as I had been very worried about the Management unit & being on conditional status when I went back to uni. Now I don't have to worry about my student status, I am back on "good" status & for the first time ever I have passed every unit I have studied in a semester at uni. I AM SO HAPPY (and relieved!) Happy happy joy joy, happy happy joy joy.....just about dancing around the room in delight! I probably would have done better with the Legal Framework & Economics if I had actually finished the exams though, but I am very happy with my marks!
Scuter Puter 07-12-07, 12:34 AM Congrats Asmodean!!! =D I know you must be estatic! And I am envious girlheartboyx, that is quite an achievement! =)
auntchris 08-18-07, 08:52 PM in my education class for the summer I received an A- and in my art history I took a Incomplete. I will finish it up the week for the final.
AsmodeanForsakn 08-19-07, 03:24 AM Congrats on the marks Chris, I bet you're really stoked about getting an A! I received a letter from the uni about my marks last semester - it's a "Letter of Commendation". I didn't even know they existed, let alone know anybody who got one. Now I just need to actually FINISH my written exams this semester....
