I had an idea that may help those of us who like to draw/paint, but have trouble finding the motivation or inspiration to do so.

Maybe each month we could hold a little art competition here. Perhaps having a different theme or style each time.

The best entry can then be voted on by everyone else, with the winner receiving a special award displayed on their profile.

Any thoughts?

I'd love that challenge! As long as I would be welcome to participate with a PSP contribution? What I was thinking is each month could have a different theme. The theme might be a certain type of subject, or maybe a particular photo. Or it might be using a certain medium.

If it's a subject theme where no medium is specified, then I would imagine that everyone could use the medium of their choice, including computer paint programs (I would say as long as it's a paint program, and not a rendering-type program that builds scenes from description files, then its fine)

I think the monthly theme should be suggested by a neutral person.

Sounds very similar to a PSP "tube challenge" to me. A set of images are provided then you make a tag from them, usually there is voting and a "winner".

I agree that a neutral party should come up with the theme. And PSP is a paint-type program.

cool, so I guess we need some people to suggest themes and choose the official ones.

And someone to design the award graphics (they probably should be displayed on our profiles for a limited time- maybe 3-6 mos, so one person doesn't end up with a ton of them)

Any volunteers? If you are involved in choosing the theme, you won't be able to participate-- at least for that month.

On order to add an award to our profile awards section, we have to have this idea approved by admin. I can take a shot at designing the graphics, if not me then HF is good with GIMP.

I like this idea and if you need a judge I volenteer for the job. As long as I dont have to be a good speller:cool: . I think we we have some really talented artists here, I wish I was half as talented as a lot of you people.:) I like looking at what you have done. so if I dont say it enough thank you for sharing your talents with us.
