Is your Dr sure it is the Strattera? i take Strattera, but had been off of it for weeks when my Dr took my bp and it was high. He said that I had been off the Strattera long enough for him to be reasonably sure that my high bp was not Strattera caused.

I am now taking meds to control my high bp and taking Strattera again.

i am wondering if that is what your Dr has in mind : waiting to see if in fact the ADD meds are raising your bp.

Best regards

I also experienced a significant increase in BP after taking Stratera - did not have high BP before the med. God Bless - R

It 's strange, because Strattera can raise or lower BP. I am one of the strange ones whose BP went way down. It went down as low as 88/52! I was getting dizzy and graying out, but the study investigators wouldn't believe me. They kept saying that my BP was always low.

The proof came when the study weaned people off of the study drug (without telling anyone) prior to the open label part of the study. I could tell something was going on because I became more energized and spontaneous. Then when I went in for my appointment my BP was 110/68.

With high BP,what I've been told is that the Strattera is weaned to nothing , then off of everything for 1 month, remeasure BP and then gradually ramp up to a lower dose than before to see if the BP increase is dose dependent.

Given the risk for having a stroke, doing what it takes to control BP takes precedence over treating ADD symptoms, IMHO....

That's odd, I'm hypertensive also and switched to Strattera for that very reason. My Dr. couldn't understand why my shrink put me on Concerta at first.

I already had high blood pressure and my Dr didn't mention Strattera could raise my B/P higher. I am on B/P meds now. Guess I'd better go have it taken again and be sure it is still under control. It Was running 200/110 until I started taking Accupril 20 mg daily. Just hope it stays at 178/84. I am also concerned if ADHD meds will elevate my B/P ?? I am 50 years old and all these ADHD meds are all new to me. I am just starting out here, so I could use any advice. Thanks...

Accupril is usually advised in conditions like high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. An accupril (http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s38-s-ACCUPRIL.aspx) may have several side effects like aggravating allergies for instance. So better take your precautions and get counselled before taking this medication.
