I think I've done well in life without antidepressents... But I personally feel like the stimulants are what I need to get through my day...

...Not just through, but successfully through.

Anyhow, I'm almost 100% sure that everybody who's reading this right now... Who has been on stimulants.... HATES the come down (drop off) at the end of the day.

I've had bad situational depressions in life and I know how it feels to be depressed. And I'll tell you.... I DO feel depressed nearly every evening when this stuff wears off. I've coached myself mentally and prepare myself for the come-down... But it's just too tough especially after the stimulant has drained a bit of your serotonin.

1) I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE IN THIS FORUM ETC HAS TRIED THE COMBO OF AN ANTI-DEPRESSENT AS WELL AS A STIMULANT TOGETHER?

2) IF ANYONE HAS TAKING THESE TWO MEDICATIONS TOGETHER.... DID YOU TAKE THE ANTI-DEPRESSENT BECAUSE OF THE DROP OFF's FROM STIMULANTS?

I look forward to hearing from anyone who has comments on this. Thank you.

When i went back on stimulants this past year I also went on an SSRI. I went on the SSRI because I also suffer from anxiety and both anxiety and the AD/HD needed to addressed. I started the SSRI before the Stimulant. I started on Concerta and the swicthed to Ritalin LA and have never noticed a drop off.

Not sure if it has anything to do with the SSRI or if it's because I'm the stimulants are long acting

From what I've read, it's very common to be on an anti-depressant and stimulants. I'm not sure it's because of the stimulants wearing off - more likely the fact that a lot of people with ADD also have depression to some extent. You may want to try it and see how it works. You don't necessarily have to have major depression to use SSRI's etc. I have used them when I was not really depressed - I just find that I am a happier person, in general, when I am on them. Few side effects for me, so there is not a huge down side in taking them.
