I was told by this women how she got some Addreall from so and so. She took it while drinking because she needed to stay awake..... OMG !

I justed answered no. I was discussed by this 30 something yo Mother of 2 young children, going to school to be a pre school teacher, saying this to me and asking me if I did have any she'd buy some from me.

I hardly know this person, has anyone else heard this Addreal + booze thing?

Sorry to sound stupid and naive but I always think of teens misusing ADD meds. not adults.

My god, I would have never thought a preschool teacher would buy drugs!

Most of the people I know (they are all young adults in college) take adderall to pull all nighers while writing papers, maybe they take it when they drink too, but I've never heard of that (I'm not saying no one does this, but when you are getting high on drugs 1+1=8!)

Mixing speed and alcohol is dangerous.

I drink about 3 times/year. Up to 3 drinks/occassion. (Sometimes i don't drink for months or years, too, though.)

-------------------

In fact, I found that having ONE or TWO drinks -- when I've taken my Meds that day (Dexedrine) -- makes me MORE impaired (than I normally would be).

Since that Incident, I don't drink on my Meds at ALL. (Easy, since I rarely drink!)
----------------

Sounds like she may be an alcoholic, or otherwise pretty messed up, eh? (e.g. she is drinking so much that she needs meds help to stay awake. OMG)

'Polysubstance abuse'

Avoid her.

And if you see her driving DUI, phone it in.

Wow. I can't understand why anyone would do a number of these things.

First, a doctor shouldn't be prescribing adderall to someone who doesn't need it.

Second, I would never give a medication I needed to anyone else even if they paid me.

Third, I would never take a medication that hadn't been prescribed to me.

Fourth, I would never take a medication and drink without being sure it was OK. (Of course, if you get the medication from your doctor, prescribed for you, you'll already get a rundown of the interactions, both from the doctor and the pharmacy, but obviously that's not happening here.)

Forget the wanting to be a preschool teacher issue - she'd get booted pretty fast if she were found to be drunk or high during working hours. They watch for that. Nobody's going to be stopping her while she's caring for, or driving around, her own kids. THEY are the ones who are in potential danger.

Ya know, though, I'm kind of dramatic in person sometimes, and if someone gave me that story, I'd be doing the shock and fear face and telling her "Oh. My. Gawd!!!! Don't you know that doing that can KILL you?!?!? You can do it a few times and think you're OK, but even a few milligrams too much, or a few ounces of alcohol too much and you'll, like stop breathing and suffocate to death? Do you want to collapse and go into convulsions and turn blue in front of your kids? What are you, nuts???" Yeah, like that.

Didn't you guys ever watch Desperate housewives? The character played by Felicity Huffman (or is that Hoffman) is a mom of boys with ADHD and she got hooked on their medicine - but then when her kids didn't have it to take, they were monsters, and when she ran out of some to take, she could no longer be the "super mom" that she had been portraying for the longest time to her friends. She crashed hard - and had to become like us mere mortal moms...

Anyhow, I am sure the writers of that particular line got that from real life stories...

Yep I have but I actually do it opposite than what is being attempted by this woman and my ADD medication is legally prescribed.

The stimulants make a "normal person" more alert which allows one to consume more alcohol before becoming drowsy. . .. what ya end up with is a wide wake drunk. Yippee.

I am not a drunk but I have used slow alcohol intake in small amounts to increase the length of time my Adderall stays in my system. I do not drink enough to be drunk, but a small amount of alcohol will increase the length of time my medication works by maybe an hour at the most. My body will metabolize the alcohol first . . . . . . thus leaving the ADD medication in my system slightly longer. This can be bad for liver if done on a regular basis and few may know their own chemical reactions to actually be able to consume the right amounts to get the proper effect. I use this when I need a little extension on my ability to control my attention span but do not want to take another dose because I am going to sleep within the hour. I pay cash for my medications {no excuse I know} and the pills cost $0.75 a piece.

I hope this helps answer your question. This person is not behaving in a productive healthy manner and as some one stated above this can be a sign of possible alcohol abuse problems. People who do not have a drinking problem don't need to abuse Adderall because we quit drinking longgggg before becoming sleepy. Drinking does not equate getting drunk unless one has a problem that needs to be addressed.

I would never sale any one my Adderall, not only is it illegal {yes it makes you a drug dealer} I would be afraid if I did it once they would never quit asking me. She needs to locate an alcohol / drug abuse counselor if she is soo far gone as to share this type of information to people whom she hardly knows.
