Has anyone had trouble finding a pharmacy that has Focalin or Focalin XR?

Yep. My son is on it, and I always have to call the pharmacy to make sure they have it. I work at a medical outpatient center that has a pharmacy, so he always makes sure I have what I need each month.

The immediate release is now a generic (dexmethylphidate) so you should have no trouble getting it. All Walgreens carries it. The generic is cheaper and you can save even more money if you get the 10mg doses and cut them in half (5mg = 10mg ritalin)

If your pharmacy doesn't have them ask them to order them for you and if they can't, go elsewhere.

If you want the Focalin XR there is no generic but you can save money buy buying the 20mg dose sprinkling them into aplesoauce, mixing THOROUGHLY, then eating only half each day... DO NOY CHEW THEM THOUGH or the extended effect wont work, Or simply dump the capsule beads into 2 equal piles (tricky but can be done) and take 1/2 each day... Again, DON'T CHEW THEM or your dose will all be released at once and no extended effect will occur... Terrible for anxiety and rebound too!

I must have called 10 pharms before I finally found Focalin XR. I'm getting my son's at Long's (we're in Calif) but I need to call every month to special order. They don't stock it (at least not yet - I hope that changes soon). I hear Walmart also carries it (but also special order). It's worked wonders on my son so far so it's worth the extra hassle (and it's actually cheaper than what we were paying for Adderrall XR). Good luck.
