So I had an appointment on Friday with my psychiatrist. I am back on Lamictal, and tapering off the celexa (well he said to taper off, I just quit taking it as of friday.) I was on Lamictal, well one year ago almost exactly. I titrated up and once I got to 200 mg, I had cognitive difficulties and vertigo, so I freaked and stopped taking it. Going back on it was actually my idea since I don't think I gave it a fair shot the first time around. That and the fact that I have a ton of 100 mg pills that I got for free thanks to the GlaxoSmithKline "Bridges to Access" patient assistance program. I am a freak about side effects. I can't help it, I am somewhat of a hypochondriac. Lamictal has that whole "potentially fatal rash" thing, that still bothers me. I also take 8o mg of adderall IR and xanax as needed.

I have experienced vertigo also on Lamictal. I figured out that it was because I was taking it really late at night and then early in the morning, so too much in my system in the morning. Now I wait until at least noon to take my daily dose. BTW I take 600 mg per day.

600mg a day! wow. I read in the full prescribing info that vertigo was one of the side effects experienced during trials....:faint:

Wow Swede!!!

I didn't even know they prescribed much past 200mg? Interesting. I had no issues with Vertigo..the only symptom I had was extreme fatigue if I took it at night....but all I needed to do is switch it to day time and I was fine...

MY son is on his second week of 100mg and not having issues at all? Wow why such a high dose? Not that I am knocking it if is works, just that I know they are showing new research that over 200mg can cause depression in BPD's that have a tendency to struggle more with episodes of depression rather than mania?

And that they don't show it works any better over the 200mg mark? I am not trying to desuade at all just curious. I know I am still stuggling with some episodes at 150mg..but the Doc doesn't want me past that...and we have talked about adding something else with it? Are you BPDII or BPDI?

Swede, how come I didn't even know you were BPD and we have chatted for awhile? Where you been hiding, you are a perfect addition to our cycling club??
