Yesterday I started with Ritalin. I'm starting with 5mg and going to increase untill I will reach the final dose. My question is: I'm drinking alot of coffee at work... hmm... Is that a problem together with the Ritalin?

Hi Theodor, and welcome to the forums.

Sometimes I used to enjoy a little coffee when the effects of my Ritalin were starting to fade, but that was the only time I really found the mixture of those two to be of benefit for me. However, we each can respond very differently to these drugs, so what works best for one person might not work well at all for another person.

Hi and thanks for your reply!

OK, I was just a litle afraid that the effect of the Ritalin was decreasing together with coffee. I'll se how it goes... :)

Lars is right, they affect everybody differently. But, if I had to guess I would say that the caffeine and Ritalin combo might increase the effects of one or both.

I used to drink 3 cups of coffee every morning. Now that I am on Ritalin, I drink one cup and sometimes two. But when I drink two I get a little jittery. I think the caffeine affects me more when I take Ritalin, but it could be the other way around. They are both stimulants after all! :)

ok, Yeah, Ill have to agree on this, Im used to drinking 2 redbulls a day. Now that I started ritalin, even at a low dose, the caffeine and ritalin make me too jittery, alone I get almost no side-affect from the ritalin, but add caffeine to the mix and I just dont feel right.

Thanks for sharing!

I have started to dring more tea and not so much coffee. I don't feel any difference but too much coffee is not too good anyway

Too much of a good thing? It is recommended that we cut down on our caffeine intake when taking stimulant meds. Drink water and your body will thank you.
