One thing that I used to find myself doing -- consistent with my lifelong ADD -- is biting off way more than I can chew with software. I'm a serial shareware/freeware downloader>installer>addict. I've stopped, for the most part, but my addiction to 'new' software was wasting so much time.. and diluting my skills, as I was spending far less time in my 'core' apps than I should have to truly master them. And since I'm not one of those 'idiot savant' software geniuses who have mastered a thousand programs, and can learn software instantly, I had marginal skills in many programs, but mastery of none.

I recognized that this was my main problem with organizing my life with software.. I had all of my contacts, addresses, To Do, tasks, etc., redundantly scattered among at least 15 different programs. I finally turned off the PC, thought it over, and put down on pencil and paper the pros and cons of each app, and decided to just use the one I found easiest and worked well for me. I set up the alarms, reminders, etc., as I'm one of those 'out of sight, out of mind' types.. and it's worked well.

I've done this with every other type of software as well.. I used to use several different browsers, several different image editors, etc. Now just one of each.

If you're the impatient type with software, then I'd recommend trying several apps and then when you find one you enjoy using.. if you find yourself losing track of time because you're having so much fun, or getting so much done.. then you've found the right one. Get rid of the rest, master one app.

If you find that the PIM, Organizer, etc. that you're currently using to be drudgery, then you probably avoid using it.. or always find something that you'd rather be doing. Look around, there has to be some app out there that you'll fall in love with, you just need to discover it. Try Tucows website.

Ok, this is getting long-winded.
