I dont like feeling different, and just want to be normal, when it come to learning. I want to be able to read, comprhend, and do thing in a normal way like the other students in school.

Do what ever it takes , tutoring, med, therapy to help you get through the school scene. Jounalling is good.

You said it all. It's so unfair. I study twice as hard as they do and get C's and they get A's. I don't even like to study with friends cuz it's review for them but I have to learn it everytime I see the material and group projects are the same way.

Have you tried tutors, making flash cards.

I hate the fact that this ADHD or LD or whatever undiagnosed THING it is is keeping me from earning $60K/yr vs. poverty.

I don't know what is worse: the shame or the rage at myself.

I use flash cards to death. lol I've had tutors before but it didn't work out well. It's my fault because I am afraid to say when I don't get something.

Hun, you have to tell them whan you doing understand something. What kind of tutors do you have? Are the from a private like sylvan or are they from the school?

Maybe youare having a personality conflict.

Tell me how you study. it could be the way you study. It is diffferent for different classes. For instance for computers and math compared to a History class the study habits would you wouold use a difffernt method.

I have a Art History class and I am making flash card of the piece of work, and put the important in formation on the back.

Tell me how you are studying... what methods do you use... it only has to be a sentence or two for each class.

They are private. My mom gets them from differnt places. I don't know where or how she find out about them. I know I have to tell them but then I just feel stupid and they'll think I'm stupid.

It doesn't help anyways because they just say the same stuff or say it louder or slower like I'm retarded or something. Also If I say I get soemthing then it will go quicker. All my friends are smart and don't need tutors.

I just don't wanna waste anyone's time explaining it over and over to me and I still don't get it.

As far as studying goes, for:

English - I can't reread the books because they're long. I don't even read the books the first time with the class most of the time because it takes me forever and I have other homework and I can fake myway through class. So I read Sparknotes Cliffnotes Pink monkey and any more I can get my hands on.

Sceince - I just reread the chapter and try to memorize stuff and do some practice problems. I never really get it tho. I don't really "do" this homework either. I just write the answers from the back of the book cuz I don't get it.

Spanish - It was easy this year cuz I repeated Spanish 3 so I just looked at teh vcoab and the verb tenses and I was mostly fine. oh and I did my homework.

Math - I looked at teh examples in the book and did some practice problems. I did homewsork in this class except for at the end when I didn't get it anymore then i just cpoied from the back of the book.

History - We mostly had to read long articles so I almost never did this homework. On occasion we would have to write about the articles so I coaxed a summary out of one of my classmates and parafrased what they said.

For tests I didn't really have any notes to go on because She never writes notes on the board and it's really hard for me to take notes from someoen talking at you. So I used someone elses notes to study and talked it over with people and tried to read the articles.

T he main thing I see here ah, is you need to work on using your time more effectivlely...

Read the books for reports.

Fore science and history use the flash card system... or you can use the mapping like www.inspiration.com (http://www.inspiration.com/)

Math no cheating, when you get the answers from the back of the book you are cheating yourself from learning. Also, warning alot of the answers have been found wrong every so often.

If I can help you with anything, how to study, or whatever. I have been tutoring a child in 3 grade last yr.... I am going to do it again this yr.

I love to help people .

I understand you are frustrated and want to do well. I know it is hard and both of us have to work harder to get the grade other get easily.
I hate how hard i work sometimes, and feel like giving up, but i cant then I would be mad at myself for not doing my best. Usually when I get angry it is at myself because I didnt do the best I could. So put your best effort into your studies, not everyone get a chance to go to school. You can do it.

I know I should do my homework and I know I'm cheating myself. I just don't have time. I mean I have time I just can't finish it all if I'm actually doing it. If I cheat I can turn my homework in on time and go to sleep at 10 or 10:30 or try and do it and go to sleep at 3 or 4. English and History I would do if it weren't so much and if I could read better and faster and understand what I was reading. and I'm just not good at anything else.

That program looks great I'm downloading the free trial.

ah, what about the time you are on the forum , using for your homework.

you do need your sleep. and the weekends... you can use for reading too. I am going to be doing that today.

Next Monday I will adding another class, and not having time to write as much I have a paper due reasearch paper. I need to get things done soon.

You need to start using some of the ideas people are giving you, and not make excuses hun.

I was just like you, believe me then I didnt have a coputer and got a lot more done.

I would limit your time, on the forum. until you get your hoome work done. I know others would agree with me, cause I got the same response in the college forum.

I just only found this forum a week after I got out of school and I'm not going to summer school so I'm not using homework time on the forums.

I don't have very many friends so I use my enitre weekend doing homework. The only time I'm not doing homework is if my family goes to eat somewhere which is rare or if I have to go somewhrer with my mom.

I don't feel as tho I'm making excuses. The only reason I brought up the time is because I wake up at 6 so for the first few weeks I was living off 3 hours of sleep and the teachers tend to get a tad annoyed if u fall asleep.

I do attempt to do my homework but after 1-2 hours its time to change subjects and I haven't gotten half way through so I copy the answers then. I don't just copy the answers. I'm trying to do well.

I've already started making plans on how i'm going to do things differntly. I'm getting a digital recorder so I can listen to the lecture over again to get notes because I can't get them in class and I can save the on the computer for finals and I'm getting a planner to write my assignments in and folders to put my papers in.

I'm sorry if I lead you to believe I was an excuse making bum because that's not what I am.

The problem with not getting something and then moving on, is that many subjects are cumulative. Esp. Languages and Math/Science.

If a person doesn't have the foundation (basement) of one concept, then it is hard to build the upper stories (2nd and 3rd floors).

There are different types of knowledge (Bloom's Taxonomy). For the most part, rote memorization isn't enough to pass tests.

One needs to understand concepts, so they can apply those learnings to new, novel questions. (e.g. Math exam questions are not the same ones we study in class. they are new problems.)
