So far, I'm very impressed. The feeling of being "on" something isn't as strong as it is with Adderall, but I feel awake at 8:30 a.m. like I usually don't feel until 3 p.m. I'm pretty hopeful at this point. :)
PROVIGIL FORUM NOW!
Congrats. I've been on it for about a month now. I take 200mg twice a day. It's an odd medication, very different than other meds like Adderall. I have sleep apnea (treated with Bi-pap) and tons of excessive daytime sleepiness (possibly narcolepsy too but I haven't taken another sleep study yet to confirm but my doc is riding me hard to get this tested).
I must say it has been a life saver med for me so far as far as combating sleepiness during the day. I've quit taking adderall so now i'm just on Provigil. So far so good. Of course the newer med, Nuvigil is approved and should hit stores soon. Supposed to be much longer acting than regular Provigil.

JR, that's interesting. I thought it was ok at first, but that I could use a higher dose (taking 100 mg. twice a day). Until you, I hadn't heard of anyone taking that much.
Keep us Updated... I'm wishing I would find a doc that would work with me on my meds so I could try it.
Let us know how it goes.
My neurologist told me to start at 100mg per day, then move to 100mg twice a day then upwards to where I'm at now (200mg twice a day). I have read on other forums of people taking 600mg a day.
I've also found out that although this med is intended for sleep disorders (and ADD off label) that many people with chronic fatigue issues (MS, Lupus, Cancer) have found this med to be a life saver.
Another thing that suprised me was getting free samples from my doctor. I asked her how that was possible since it's a controlled med. She said C-IV meds are allowed for samples but not C-II or III. She gave me about a 3 week supply of samples to start me out. Pretty cool.

I was actually pleasantly surprised at the price. It ain't cheap, but it's no more expensive than brand-name Adderall. I had a good experience with it yesterday, and I was literally working on 2-3 hours sleep. We'll see how today goes, now that I'm rested.
Good Luck! With insurance the co-pay should be similar to Adderall XR. Take a look at the real price though (what insurance has to pay)!
