I have been switching between vocations for the last 3 years trying to find something that suits me. I finially decided to give myself a shot in sales like I have always wanted, and I am pretty excited and nervous about it.

I used to wonder if I had BiPolar, or Depression, or something totally weird because everytime I made a decision, and stuck with it - I lost interest instantly. Then I thought what something else would be like. Can anyone relate to this?

Well after doing extensive reading on human psychology I learned there are two types of focus that humans possess. Task focus, and process focus - and I am process focused. Once the process is part is done I lost complete interest - I am only interested in searching, finding, discovering - not in implementing, using, completing.

So I dont know if sales is right for me or not, but I thought this little piece of information may be useful for those of you who think you are crazy like me. You arent, you have a different type of focus built into your brain. I am hoping the sales PROCESS will satisfy this need in me.

Sometimes I really wish I could ease my mind about is that I am wasting time. The human lifespan is only 28k days, and if you are 24 1/3 of your life is over. You sleep the other 1/3, so you only have 9.3k days left!

I want to get success NOW.

Oh, rad... process motivated vs. task motivated. Yeah, I can dig that. Definitely seems to explain a lot. You have any good links on this?

I dono tough, you say "sales" and the first think I think of, is genuine bordem....

and processing sales? that sounds like you go through a list in excel, and do a checklist for everything, and get handed more lists...

wow...that sounds boreing...

If you are 24 you are younger than my oldest child, You are worried about the amount of time you have left to decide on a vocation?

Maybe it isn't related to task or process thinking at all. Maybe you are turned off by the idea that doing the same thing over and over for 30+ !

Besides who said you have to only pick ONE trade or vocation. Picking ONE sounds pretty boring to me personally.

being 45 boy how many days do I have left. I still dont know exactly what I want to be when I grow up. I have had so many different jobs
http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30918 this thread is titled jobs jobs and more jobs. It talks about the many many jobs I have had in my life time. I am learning that success is more than the money I make or the position at work I have. it is about my family, it is, about the number of people I help, and most of all it is about the number of times I alow myself to smile. When we help each other we are never wasting time. to me that is the true measure of who and what we are.
