I've been recently diagnosed a month ago with ADHD/with form of Depression and was put on Ritalin LA 20mg and it worked for about 2hrs into after taking it and i felt like the meds wore off. I've even tryed dosing 2 times a day and still doesn't last all day... What other med would some of you recommend for this. ALso i have another disability called "Hyperhidrosis" it's where my sweat glands overact all the time mainly in my palm of my hands and in my feet, so when im at work, i can feel anxiety hitting me because i can hardly focus and the inability to perform any tasks correctly because the adhd and hyperhidrosis **** me off.. does anyone have any suggestions to what med i can try next for my adhd? i have an appt for my psychologist tuesday and was wanting some feedback. thanks
Hi Lil-Rick and welcome to the forums.
Perhaps you might consider talking to your Dr about the possibility of trying the drug Focalin. It's similar to Ritalin except that it contains only the dexmethylphenidate half of the methylphenidate molecule.
The advantage of isolating the dex half (right handed half) of the molecule is due to the fact that it is more stimulating to the CNS (central nervous system), and not very stimulating to the PNS (peripheral nervous system). It's not uncommon even for a person who does not suffer from "hiperhydrosis" to have a similar sweating response to certain PNS stimulation. Stimulating the PNS tends to raise body temperature, and extra sweating is often a side effect of that.
Hopefully you and your Dr will find something that works best.

Thanks, thats one thing that i will bring up, i've heard alot of information that "Dextrostat" and "adderal" works really well. My problem is that many thoughts are shoved into my head and i try to process them all at one time and it just gets me soooo ****ed off. I'll bring that up as well at my appt. what do you think ? try focalin first and see how it goes?

I suggest Focalin because I noticed when I took it that it was much more therapuetic for me than Ritalin was concerning PNS stimulation.
I also remember sweating more frequently when I took Ritalin. I always assumed it might have beed due to the PNS stimulation I was receiving from the L-methylphenidate which makes up the left hand side of the methylphenidate molecule.
