:confused:Surprised not to see any discussion of the new(er) studies at Harvard and other Centres that in general ADULT ADHD patients are being UNDERDOSED (therefore often no good outcome or insufficient response) - their studies recommend between 1.0 - 1.3mgs per Kl - which is usually around 100mgs plus - I have been told that doses of up to 140mg max are acceptable and safe. There are lots of new papers on this but people still seem to be taking 60mgs max or less - which these studies have found to be too low and much better results were seen at HIGHER doses - higher than FDA recommendations. Anyone following these new protocols - if in doubt google Harvard ADD .....

I just started on Equasym (UK equivalent Concerta) 40mgs twice daily plus 20 mgs top Ritalin in the evening - I am sort of toughing it out - sometimes its like real life - sometimes its hell - BUT these are the doses now recommended by cutting edge ADHD specialist clinics - and yes its best to titrate.

Thoughts please - except shock - horror. This is IMPORTANT stuff - and may explain why so many people get incomplete and frustrating results from lower doses.

Are people on board with this info????? Would like to hear thoughts and other people on this regime.

These doses were reffering to doses with methylphenidate (Ritalin) - usually long acting - not Adderall

here atthe bottom is a link to 2005 study - which has been replicated many times since both in the US, and Europe

Many studies in the US have been led by
Joseph Biederman, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; ...

you can find quite a few papers if you google his name -

However this link has the info which might stimulate (!!) some thinking - Its really important we aren't 2 years (or more)behind latest medical research into Adult AHDH - and new properly conducted trials. And why arent psychs etc up to speed ... laziness and being "conservative" for no good reason. Point your psychs or whoever to this info. -

No doubt there will be screams of protest from some - why? Predjudice - and the anti-science and anti-meds mob -

Loads of adults with ADHD get pretty lousy results from their treatments or give up because it isnt working well enough - here's one good answer
