Hi I considering to take meds for the first time... psych will just give pathetic advice and no meds
but im in such situation that here in sea (south east asia) adhd is pretty much unknown, so the only way i get meds is learn that myself than ask for prescription from my doc cousin.... but first Im very afraid of side effect.

What i think will help me is amphetamine type medicine...I know that by accident. Long time ago my doc give me asthma medicine which contain similar substance of amphs in add medicine and suddenly the world look brighter and i can do everything and finish thing (Without usual dark cloud come to my mind stop the effort). Today I sfifted to other kind of asthma meds (non amph. type, inhalation) so risk of overdose no longer.

Would that means something like adderall will help me ? woth other choice ?

Also can I eat the medicine irregularly (Just during busy/high pressure season)
Cause as I said, Im very careful with medicine and afraid about side effect.

Hi mADDer, I just replied to you in another thread :) about graphics. I am wondering: do you have a diagnosis of ADHD right at this point in time?

hi CF... thx
yea I finally diagnosed... I went to other city coz there is a good psych clinic there.
she give me the med and few vitamins (more about general fitness I guess). She also give me alot of advice that answer my question about... however....
She explain a lot but I only remember few of what said :(
Also I forget to ask : is there a risk of dependence ? I means once u take medication would u be dumber stupid man if u stop medication ?

Well I have been medicated for over a year now and I don't feel any dumber for it :). I don't think it works that way at all. There is often a period as the med wears off that the patient may feel for a breif period of time a bit worse off than usual, but this soon passes, leaving the patient no worse than they started off.

With all stimulants there is a risk of dependence but at a proper therapuetic dose this should not happen, OK? The amounts that abusers and addicts use are much greater than the doses prescribed for relief from ADHD symptoms. I cannot state definitively that anybody will or will not become dependent on their meds. I can state that I know a great many people right here who take stimulants and have taken them for many years and they are not dependent.

A lot of people find Dexedrine to be milder and to have fewer side effects than other stimulants like Ritalin, Adderall and such.

A lot of people find Dexedrine to be milder and to have fewer side effects than other stimulants like Ritalin, Adderall and such.I am highly inclined to agree with this myself. I have taken methylphenidates and Adderall and of them all I like my dexedrine the best.
