Does anyone take more than 20mg of Focalin daily? I think my son needs an increase and he is already at 20mg a day. When I asked the doctor she suggested switching meds and I have a hard time switching when it is working.

Focalin XR has been studied in doses of 30mg/d in kids and 40mg/d in adults (see Findling RL, Clinical Therapteutics, 2008). The average dose for one of the larger trials (Greenhill et al) was 24mg/day for kids.

You might suggest trying an increased dose before switching meds. Whether the medicine does not seem to be working at all, or is not lasting long enough throughout the day is an issue worth considering as well. Good luck
