I printed out the voucher and plan to take it in with me to my next appointment. How do you all expect it to differ from Adderall XR? Or how has it differed for those of you that have switched to Vyvanse?

I currently am on a prescription for one 30mg XR to start the day, and two 15mg IR's to end the day or supplement the XR.

What exactly is the dosage comparison with Vyvanse?

So I have a little to tell but not the whole story.....

I am detailing it in a running blog in another thread in this subgroup.

But basically I am getting some of but not all of the good effects of Adderall.

Dosage comparison: I was on 40MG of Adderall XR daily.

I now take 75MG of Vyvanse which I believe is the highest recommended dosage (much in the way 60MG XR of Adderall is)

Keep us posted.

What dosage do you think my psychiatrist will start me on? ....given my current Adderall dosage.

I would think that since you are currently on 60mg of Adderall a day total he or she would prescribe 75mg of Vyvanse.

Post back when you get the RX...I would be curious to hear.

Has extended reading been a problem for you? If so, does the Vyvanse help?

70mg of Vyvanse = 30mg of Adderall XR

50mg of Vyvanse = 20mg of Adderall XR

30mg of Vyvanse = 10mg of Adderall XR

When you say that 70mg of Vyvanse is equal to 30mg of Adderall XR, do you mean that 70mg of Vyvanse is equal to 15mg of Dextroamphetamine? OR like 7.5 per 4 hours? Could you elaborate a little on the breakdown? I'm curious as to the equivilancies and as to the release, and how much is released when. Am I making sense?

Two days is enough test for me.

50mg Vyvanse (weird name) I get appr. four hours of something that resembles 50mg of ephedra and then it dropped me like a rock.

So I take another 50mg early afternoon and I'm still ready for a nap. (Could not stop yawning).

No thanks, I was hopeful that (new technology) would enable me to lower my overall dosage and get good results for an extended period of time but it did not.

It might work for others as everyone reacts differently.

One other thing, my BP jumped to 158/91 in no time from 132/80 after taking the 50mg dose.

No, the 70mg of Vyvanse actually contains just under 30mg of d-amphetamine (upper 20's range).

the 30mg of Vyvanse contains 8.something mg of d-amphetamine.


I don't believe Vyvanse works on a bi-modal release system like Adderall XR does (2 separate drug doses per capsule). Vyvanse gives a continual release as the body does its job with metabolizing the med. This is why it has a more predictable profile than Adderall XR. Might be easier to think of Vyvanse's release profile like Concerta. The mechanism is different but both have a slow, constant release.

BTW...as I was reading I noticed a correction I need to make.....The pill I take is "70" milligrams not 75.

I gave Vyvanse 2 days, and got my doc to write the good ol' (2) 20mg XR's in the morning and (1) 20 mg IR when that wore off. I agree, the Vyvanse wouldnt last the whole day, and would droppppp you like a rock... the 2 days i tried it, i had depression symptoms, stomach ache, and a bad headache, and i could tell like exactally when it was wearing off. I was on (1) 70mg Vyvanse per day.
