hey everyone :)

so, this is another issue about talking to my doctor... (i probably just need to learn to speak up :p).. but i was wondering how you guys get your doctor to prescribe the brand medication, as opposed to the generic?

can you just tell the pharmacist that you only want the brand name med, or does there have to be something special written on the prescription from the doctor?

on my last prescription, he wrote "Ritalin," so i thought i was getting the brand name, but they ended up giving me generic without even asking.

(...i don't want that to happen again.)

Yes you have the option to ask for brand name.

I think the only thing that would prevent it is if the doctor checked the box indicating 'dispense as written'. Otherwise you always have the option of brand or generic but be aware of pricing.
