I often have to go a few days without my prescription at least ever couple months, if not ever month. My state doesn't allow refills (do any?), but also doesn't allow scripts to be pre-dated to give the patient a few days of lee way or multiple scripts at one visit to be filled on month at a time (I know other state can do this.).
So, my doctor's office doesn't like me to call more than a couple of days in advance because they like to write the script on the day it's to be filled. This means if I call early, sometimes the message is forgotten by the next day or two. Also, if I have to call at the end of a week, and it happens to be a day when my doc is working. I may not even be able to pick up the script by the following Monday or Tuesday.
This is my current problem. Today is the last day I have meds (Aug. 3rd), but it was last filled on July 5th. The nurses who take the messages are the gatekeepers always fail to account for the fact that after each 31-day month, the date of the month for the next script decreases by two (so if it's filled and taken on the 5th, the next month needs to be the 4th). They tend to think I'm "drug-seeking" if I ever call a couple of days early to allow the script to be written on time and really can't comprehend the 31 day month concept.
Does anyone else run into this problem? I always feel horribly tired and non-functional when this happens. I'm pretty sure I'll have to go 3 days without meds, at least.
Caffeine is a nice way to augment my meds because they're a bit weak, but caffine alone does not allow me to be functional.
