The CHADD organization KILLED their message board by making ACCESS to it require membership.
A Word to the Wise is Sufficient.
I was a member BECAUSE of the open message board. I watched in dismay as traffic dropped to worthless....
100 % of the CHADD Message Board requires paid membership for people to access the board.
As it stands right now we already have 2 subforums that require FREE membership in order to access those forums. The Peer Coaching and the Journal Section are only accessible to registered members right now.
I can see why CHADD went to a members only message board. Admin and moderating a message board take a lot of work. Organizations like CHADD have to be extra careful about moderating the forums since they must follow specific guidelines.
What we are talking about at ADD Forums is adding some addtional private/subscription only forums in addtion to the public ones that are already here. I'm not sure what kind of rumors going around about ADD Forums. I hope this clears up some of the confusion.
Additional comment: None of the existing sections of the forum that are already open, will be affected by this. Only some new ones that we plan to add soon.
It will cost nothing to access these subscription-based sections of the forum.

I saw traffic drop to people asking if anyone was there... i haven't been back... maybe there has been some recovery, but it is why i found this board...
Compuserve had a number of boards before they were bought out by AOL. people did a fairly descent job of policing and ignoring posts ... experts did not get hounded in their areas, even though others could see and participate.
Glad to hear that ADD Forums is looking at his in a measured and incremental way.
