Hi guys! Well...the telecom that I've worked at for the last 22 years is shutting its doors here in Chicago (offshoring to the Philippines) so I'll be out of a job come October 5th. I"m 42 years old and have been working steadily since I was 17 yrs old (not at the same company of course). Even though I'll be getting a severance package, it'll feel very strange to be unemployed after all this time. It'll also feel very liberating as to what new career I might take up. I set up conference calls for various businesses right now and I feel that I'd like to try something different. Even though I've just received my associate degree in applied science with a concentration in paralegal studies, I feel like going in a different direction altogether ( I've had people tell me I'd make a great English teacher and I got great grades in my various writing assignments ) so I'm contemplating what I'd like to do with my life at this point. Here's a look at my resume ( although I may make a few more changes to it later on as it's kind of rough looking at this point ):

As you can see, this is my professional life in a nutshell, so i'm trying to figure how to parlay all of that into something better for my future job. I consider my ADD to be an asset and I'm hoping that I find a job that's the perfect fit ( I'm taking a month or so off just to get myself in shape physically - regular exercise, and mentally - by brushing up on some reading and polishing up some old skills ). I know I sound like I'm rambling ( I'm a little nervous by all that is happening here), but I'd like to hear from others on the board about how they turned out after being laid off and if they found a better job/place for themselves. In short, any advice you might deem worthy to offer me. BTW the two yr. Navy stint didn't mean I got into trouble - although I was considered a "misfit" I wasn't hit up with an form of nonjuducual punishment or admin hearings, I just got out early that's all. I look forward to your responses.

Forgive the weird look of it all, but I was told I had too many images that had to be eliminated before I could post the above message. I fiddled around a bit with it and posted it like this, unfortunately.
