Does anyone know of a specialist who deals specifically in diagnosing adults with adhd. We live in Devon and the only one we have found so far is in Sussex, which we would go to if we have to, but it would be nice to know there is somebody a bit closer. We have been told the NHS list is very full and we might have to wait for ages. My daughter is 26 and has waited long enough...so we will pay for a private referral to get things moving.

in my readings i've come across that psychiatrists who handle child ADHD also are equipped to handle adults. misconception that they can't give you proper treatment as well.

Ask to be referred to the Adult ADHD clinic in Cambridge, which may have a shorter waiting list than the one in London. The guy who runs the Cambridge clinic is Dr Jonathan Dowson and he is the chap who diagnosed me.

I know it is a long way from Devon, but trip will be worth it and Cambridge is a very nice place to visit.
