like if you don't take your adderall or concerta ( or other ADHD) meds do people notice?

My dad can. One time I called him and asked if he had an extra calendar. ( I needed one so I can chart my moods). He did so I come see him just to get the calendar and leave. I go to his used appliance store and his helper is there. We talk for an hour and then I start to leave.

My dad reminds me to get my calendar. I totally forgot.

He was like, " Did you take your adderall today?"

And I am like, " No, I didn't"

Also I attend a day program 4 days a week from 10- 3. when I am not medicated, they notice that I don't sit through groups ( 15 minutes and I'm out of my seat wandering around the room or outside).

When I don't take my bipolar meds, well then you definately don't want to be around me, but that's a totally different story!

I didn't take my meds this weekend but didn't tell my gf. I became irritable, moody, lethargic, stressed out and anxious.... my old self pretty much. Didn't take her half a day to notice.

Yep, it gets noticed when a person does not take their meds. When you are normally calm with meds, you probably are fidgety without them. Or, like you pointed out, you forget things. It gets noticed.

My spouse notices when my medication BEGIN to wear off, he says I become a "ditz" when my Adderall starts wearing off which is about five hours after I take it. Heck he even notices weather or not I am on my medications over the phone he doesn't even have to see me in person.

I think people who know me here can tell weather or not I am medicated just by reading my post. . .. so is it NOTICEABLE when I am un-medicated. ummmm possibly-:p

Every one else seems to notice longgggg before I do. I may or may not notice at all depending upon what I am doing.

I become lazier, more lethargic, and have a don't give a dang personality when I don't take my meds. I also don't write creatively, which is a dead give a way that I'm not taking my meds. I take 90mgs Adderall a day. 30 when I wake, 30 at 1pm, and 30 at 5.

When my son was taking meds at around age 11, he would sometimes forget to go to the nurses office to take his medication. Not long into the day, his classmates would just go remind him, not even needing to ask him!

Medicated me on the left, and unmedicated me on the right. :rolleyes:

OK, I might not look like a Dr. Jekyll or a Mr. Hyde on the outside, but on the inside it can sometimes feel that way before & after I take my medication. :o

PS As you know, Dr. Jekyll changed into Mr. Hyde after taking some medicine, but for me it's the opposite. I change from Mr. Hyde into Dr. Jekyll. Maybe this is just another case of one of those strange ADHD paradoxical reactions? :p

Hey you pretty well just described me!!! I am also irritable and moody sometimes but some of it is my bipolar, though.

i used to find that coming of dexies for the weekend... by sunday i was hell hyperactive.

I don't notice it, but everybody else does.

My friends are always going, Did you take your Concerta today? and they only ask it when I haven't taken it. Apparently im much easier to be around when I take Concerta, I am also easier to understand because my speech isn't so random and unorganised. I don't notice though.

I don't know if others do, but for the past 2 days I've missed my dexedrine (ALL DAY!!) and today at the end of the day, I feel stressed out and exhausted, like just working took everything I had out of me.... I didn't think it was doing as much as Im thinking it was.......

My husband wouldn't notice if I ran naked in the streets! Don't get me wrong, he is very supportive, he has to be to be married to someone with ADHD, but when he gets home he only wants to chill in front of the TV and ignores alot of what goes on in the house. Maybe that is his way of coping with us. Sometimes I think he might be ADHD inattentive. Then he could just join the rest of us in the family!LOL I definately know when the adderall is out of my system and I REALLY know when my daughter's is gone.

My husband always notices -- when I was on it all the time, he generally noticed because I was missing things, not listening well, etc. Now that I don't take it often, when I do take it he notices because I get a lot more done and sometimes because I'm more aggressive (his word) or assertive (my word). Unfortunately he also notices because my facial tic picks up.

Heck yeah! People notice when I don't take them. I become moody, lethargic, grumpy, etc. Had one person tell me that they could tell I hadn't taken them by looking at my eyes. when my meds became ineffective one could tell. Instead of being supportive my ex-bf broke up with me when that happened. Showed his true colors unfortunately.

yes and no. the few who know of my problem can tell when I'm off, but there aren't many who know so I guess they just think i'm very moody, which I am.

I dont take proper medication because i still havent been diagnosed with ADHD.

But people can tell when I havent taken my pro plus tabs (caffeine tablets) (I take them in a high dose) because i will do some work, then i will stop and turn away from my screen to talk to and annoy ;) my peers.

I also have a bit of a figit problem that tends to come and go, because sometimes I tend to drift off, and I sit completely still, and other times I tend to have a little fun with my spinny computer seat (I find it a bit easier to focus on something while moving my legs or something ect)

But when I do take my pro plus, usually about 1000 - 2000 mgs, or 20 - 40 tabs!!! :eek: ....

I can be quiet almost all day, becuase i get so hyper focused on my work and forget whats going on around me, and its great!! :D

Yeup! W/O the dex I cannot find my own behind with both hands, a map and a flashlight. With them, I at least have a decent shot at it. Its pretty noticible..."Honey? Aren't you missing something?" :o.

Without them if i have to be still i feel like i'm going to EXPLODE. I also get mischeivious. Like yesterday I was in an underground parking and i was swinging off of the pipes and whacking the traffic signs.

I almost stole a hat (on purpose). I didn't get caught I just wanted to see if i could then i returned it.

I could not go up and down the escalator like a normal person i had to climb up the sides or balance myself on just my hands holding the sides.

I also shouted :soapbox:"SOAP" for no reason at all and waved at randopm people while we were driving. some of them actually waved back.

I'm freaking 16 tomorrow and I was acting like a 5 year old. lol

Grocery stores too. Vivarin is cheaper at least where I'm at. Same stuff, 200mg caffeine tablets. That's what I get now.

I'm taking a break off my Adderall today. Thought I wouldn't notice it much. In general, I don't feel much different and I don't think my outward behaviors are any different. And I doubt anyone would notice any difference in me. I'm still hyperactive, meds or no meds. But now whenever I try to focus on any tasks my brain seems to just want to shut down instead of honing in on anything. Distractibility level is a lot higher too.

My wife notices, and even I notice it. I get angry at the drop of a hat and get really stressed and anxious etc. She can definately see a difference.

Yes - Adderall makes me much more 'stimulated' heh ;-P
I'm more talkative, more active in discussion for instance - I feel like I'm 'bursting' to say something or be a part of what's going on. LIke a little kid who gets really excited.

My normal state is the opposite - I'm very calm, reserved, almost 'lethargic' sometimes.
