I would have posted this in the Ritalin section in medication but I was worried that kids might read it. Anyways, I started taking Ritalin which is the first drug I've been perscribed so far. It works in that I'm able to concentrate much better but I've noticed that I'm no longer interested in sex. Keep in mind that I'm 20 years old and I was very very interested in sex before I started taking it. Now I can get an erection but it's hard to maintain it because I lose interest in sex right away. Even when I'm looking at pornography I don't feel any sort of sexual urges. Is this a natural side effect of Ritalin? If so, how have some people overcome this?

Let's see... When I was on Ritalin, I had to time it right with sex so that the dose was wearing off before I even really cared to have sex... But that was the beauty of ritalin, that it did wear off.

Straterra gave me a harder time. That one really ruined sex for me. As much as I hate to admit to it, sexual side effects are one of the reasons that I prefer life unmedicated. It works for me, I can't say the same for anyone else.

I've found that Ritalin actually helps me sexually - I can concentrate on what's happening and I'm more involved, rather that the vague disassociated feeling I'd often get, which would lead me to lose interest.

Ritalin reduces my libido and ability to maintain an errection. But everything is fine a day or so after I stop using it.

I use low dose selegiline everyday and that helps with concentration (not as well as taking ritalin) and is great as an aphrodisiac and for maintaining an errection.
