my son was on a course of ritolin for 30 days and it worked really well, hes now been described concerta 27 mg one tab a day in the morning...but hes really not himself hes only been on it 4 days but hes so anxious all the time and bursting into tears and really not coping around crowds etc..is this normal when you start this concerta and the 1 tablet a day thing?? im very concerned as i dont think this is right for him, any advice would be gratefully received pleasexxx

The different forms of the same med can have different effects on people. It would be worth exploring other long acting forms with the doc. I do not know what is available in the UK but here in the US we have ritalin LA, concerta, metadate cd, focalin xr and daytrana patch. It may take time to find the best one for your son. If the long acting forms do not work, you may nave to stick with the short actin form given a couple times each day for full coverage. It is a tough journey but well worth it.
