I've been to the doctor twice since I started Adderall a little over a month ago. Never in my life (that I remember) have I ever gotten a LOWER blood pressure reading. I was fully expecting that it would INCREASE my BP.

Before I medicated, I normally hit the high side of normal (130 over 90). Taking Strattera didn't change a thing. Adding Adderall XR to that made me score 110 over 80 two months in a row. I've never had a more normal BP reading.

Yet, my heart rate has definitely increased since I started to medicate. Weird huh? I don't know what to make of it, but I'd like to see how your blood pressure has reacted to new medication.

That's EXACTLY what happened with me. I've got hypertension that is medicated with Benicar and the same doctor prescribed Adderall. Last month my blood pressure was lower than it had been in years.

I do experience the rapid heart rate as well and it doesn't bother me much but in the back of my mind I wonder if its good for my heart in the long run.

no fair! I have been on Adderall for years now and just within the last 6 months have been having high BP (like anywhere from 140/90 to 158/102). I am very concerned about it because I don't want to go off the Adderall but fear this might happen. I don't think it is the Adderall that is causing the increase, but I know that it will be frowned upon.

Anyone else been in this situation?

I was taking adderall for about 2 weeks and I had to go to the general doctor for allergies. My BP was normal.

I would defintley mention this to your doctor. Of course you don't want to go off of Adderall if it is truly helping you. There are plenty of people who take stimulant medications and BP meds. So just tell you doctor that the Adderall works great! And that recently your BP started to go up and wanted to inquire about adding on something or if he thinks it is necessary to add on a BP med. Seriously though.....if your BP continues to be high....you may not be around to take your Adderall if you end up with a heart attack!

I tend to have what I would consider a strange reaction to amphetamines (Adderall or Dex) with regards to blood pressure/heart rate.

I have a normal BP/HR when on the meds, but when they wear off, my HR and BP are both elevated (especially HR, like 110-120 resting) for an hour or two afterwards.

jenny and everyone else,

When I first started, my bp was never elevated. I started to gain a lot of weight and it shot my BP up. I'm now on Benicar HCT and Adderall. I had to stop the Adderall for two months but I asked my doctor and pleaded with him as I told him it's the only drug that actually helps with my ADD. He agreed to put me back on but warned me sternly that if the BP goes over a certain number that I need to stop outright.

I'm working on losing some weight so that the BP will go down. I'm significantly overweight, I know that is bad, and I'm working on it slowly.
