i saw my doctor today and am already on 25mg of adderall xr (non-generic) and we decided that i should try ir as well because i need it to last longer. I got the script filled and looked at them, the xr was the same brand name as before but the ir says "amphetamine tab 10MG" so its generic. will it be ok to take real xr and generic ir together? i know i wont blow up or anything but i wanna see if anyone has had this combo or has any input. thnks in advance

I worked in a pharmacy for over 9 years. This is a common question. By law, regardless of what you are told, All generics must be the same active ingredient. There may be subtle differences in the inactive ingredients but, they may not alter the outcome of of it's active ingredient. That being said. There are many medications that are produced from the same line as the brand name. I have even seen the generic company produce the brand names.
So when someone says that a generic does not work as well for them, that may be true but, I know that I will get arguements with this, unless they are sensitive to the inactive ingredients, I find it hard to believe. Barr which produces many generics may even produce the brand Adderall. I will look into this. Shire's focus is on Vyvanse and Adderall XR.
