Just curious if anyone could impart their experiences with the two. Which is more effective? Which of the two has the less "euphoric" feeling to it? I'd much rather be on the one less euphoric so it does not alter my mood too much.

1-Why are you concerned about moods and euphoria? Do you an existing mood disorder?

2-Effectiveness is in the mind of the patient. Meds work differently for different people.

There is no way to determine this ahead of time. You just have to try them and see for yourself.

Now I do have a mood disorder. Methylphenidates worked great, really great for my ADHD but aggravated my mood disorder.

I despised Adderall...there are no words that I can use to define my opinion of this medication that would be appropriate for use on a family forum.

Personally? I take Dexedrine.

What kind of things happened to you while on adderall?

Brian,

what is effective for one person may not be effective for another in the case of ADHD meds. There is no way of knowing which med would work best - unfortunately ADHD meds are all trial and error.

unlike Crazy~Feet - Adderall works wonders for me.

With euphoria - you might get it the first day or two - which would just be your body adjusting to the med. After it adjusts - you should NOT feel euphoria with either med. if you do -then you're taking too much.

What kind of things happened to you while on adderall?Virtually nothing in the way of symptom relief. I really felt nothing at all when the second half of the medication was supposed to be releasing. The only good part of the experience was the realization that amphetamine-based meds seemed to me to be a bit smoother when they wore off than the methylphenidates did, and this was only an issue to me because of co-morbid bipolar disorder. If I were only dealing with ADHD, I would have to say that in terms of relief from those symptoms alone, I would have definitely stuck with my Concerta/Ritalin combo. No question.

Of course I am happy when anybody finds the combo that works for their own chemistry. :)

In terms of mood disorder, I am on Remeron for depression and Xanax XR for social anxiety. Although, I think most of this boils down to my ADD with the low grade depression and lack of motivation possibly being limbic ADD. I am in the process of switching psychs as I do not feel the one I go to is knowledgeable. Have been on Ritalin 10mg 2-3 times a day since Friday and have noticed significant improvement VS the Adderall XR 10mg once a day. Since I started the Adderall the same day I stopped Strattera cold turkey (after only 4 weeks) it's hard to say I gave Adderall a fair go. My brain chemistry was still adjusting to the lack of NRI and I was feeling some weird side effects. So far, the Methylphenidate is definitely helping with my focus and motivation issues. A little increase in mood, actually a good thing, but nothing severe.
