I have voiced my dissatisfaction about my job...I am pretty close to getting fired and I am actually happy bout it. I am on attendance warning due to some tardies I have had this year..most of which were out of my control...really they were..I had car trouble twice..I had an auto accident (car slid over a hill due to ice)..so I guess that is three car related issues..There were two rock slides which caused everyone coming my way to be late twice..and there was an accident on my way to work which caused traffic to be rerrouted..
The reason I mention that is during my first attendance warning my supervisor said situations which were beyond my control would not be counted against me..needlessly to say..I thought the above issues were beyond my control..but that is not what brought this on..However, my boss modified my hours and I have been tardy 0 times since then.. I was just about to lick my 90 day probabtion period in the beginning of september..but then I got sick.
On Tuesday August 14th I woke up and felt nauseous. I threw up the oatmeal I ate. I went to work and asked permission to go home. I was granted permission to leave. I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with the stomach flu and given two days off beyond what I had taken that day. I faxed the excuse to the acting manager since mine was out that week. I thought I was covered for two days...
Well get this...they are counting it against me as an unscheduled abscence and hence I got another 90 day warning last Thursday...so I was almost over my 90 days at the beginning of september but now I have another one. Now I will be on warning until end of November. They said I should have told the acting manager I may not make it in the next day before I left and that would not have counted against me..I think the fact the manager knew I threw up 5 times before I left that day and was ill would have been an implicit warning that I may not be in the next day..Really it was freakin common sense that if someone is that sick they may not be in the next day..does it need to be spelled out? So basically despite me leaving ill and faxing a medical excuse within 3 hours after I left, I would have had to come in the next morning for half a day in order to not have it counted against me. However, if I would have EXPLICITLY said to the manager I might not be in..it would have been alrright.. Does that make any sense? I think that is totally assinine.
I am half heartedly tempted to make something up and call off tomorrow wiht a medical excuse just to get rid of this BS...If I get fired and I am ill, I would definitely receive unemployment..I can't believe this crap!
