Correct. The XR is a gel capsule. 20mg are orange. 30mg are orange/clear.


The regular Adderall is a tablet. I only had the blues when I took the short acting.

The length of time it last depends on the person.
I didn't like the short acting because of the "brick" wall effect of coming off between doses...meaning my ADD was revving up...and if I forgot take it in time...it would bounce me up...then down again.

The XR does last longer and has a smoother release. I don't have side-effects with it, except the dry mouth.

Of course you need to talk to the doctor.
What mine allowed me to do, since I needed it both at work, and home. Is when I was up to my full 40mg doseage. I took 20mg in the morning about 9am. Then took the other doseage of 20mg around lunch time. This way. The effects lasted through most of my work day, and most of the evening at home. I was fine to do without it a couple hours in the morning at work ,since the morning was so routine. And that way it wasn't wearing off about 5 -6 when I needed it at home to help kids with homework, cook, and help maintain order and a schedule esp during the school year. That is an option you might want to discuss once you get levelled out or put in the XR.

10mg Adderall IR is often a blue, football shaped tablet (in the case of Barr), a round blue tablet (in the case of Eon), or could possibly be white or off-white for other generics. Barr tablets seem to have a distinctive sugary taste to them as well, whereas the Eon (and probably most others) do not.

Right, yes it is oval shaped and blue <-1|0-> and the other side is <-b/972->
They don't taste like anything really, I guess they could be sweet, but I've been consuming Splenda long enough that sugary things really aren't that sugary to me..

(I try to avoid sugar as too much makes me very very very very hyper and I act drunk and silly.):faint: :eek:

I believe this 10mg works very well for me, should I ask next month to either increase to two tablets a day? or else ask for XR? my general issues are I tend to yell at my fiance if she frustrates me, and when on adderall I haven't yelled at her till its completely worn off, and then it still has lingering effects and I can still bite my tongue and keep my mouth shut...

What are your experiences with different meds helping when it comes to Impulsive behavior? have/has they/it also helped anyones compulsive issues as well?:eyebrow:

Doc wants to put me on Prozac and I just dont think that is going to fly.. I would like a sex life and if Prozac is going to kill that, i'd rather go without it..
I'm already taking Wellbutrin for the depression so I guess I can survive if the OCD isn't taken care of. :confused:

So far i've taken 10mg of generic adderall for 9 days and no side effects, the head achey feeling went away after the third day.

Is it safe to take adderall daily as the doctor prescribed it to be taken?

I think he wants to switch to the XR after I've gotten used to this dose.

Is it even safe to take the 10mg Adderall XR for an extended period of time?
