Have many of you started taking Adderall XR at 20 mg or started lower and worked up in order to find the right dose if it happens to be lower than the suggested does and manage the side effects as your body adapts to the drug?

I tried to take Adderall XR at this dose several weeks ago and had a pretty uncomfortable experience.

Well I think my doctor wanted to start me at 20mg but I told her I would prefer to start at 10mg and work my way up to avoid side effects.

I started at 20mg Adderall XR twice a day. However, I think my doc started me that high because I had already tried a higher dose of Focalin and a higher dose of Vyvanse and they both wore off too soon.
As far as side effects and dealing with them, just remembering that it was a rebound effect and that it wouldn't last forever helped a lot. I had headaches the first few days, and then I was anxious and jittery for a few days. However, the side effects only happened when the med was wearing off, not when it was actively working.
I think very few people get the right dose the first time they try a new medication. For instance, I'm currently taking 80mg of XR a day and it works great for me.

Jeremynd - Have you had good results? Are you up to 20?I have been taking 10mg XR for the last 3 days. Today my stomach has started growling like crazy for the past 4 hours. Which has never happened before. I also take Prilosec OTC everynight before bed for my acid reflux problem.

As far as how I feel today. Its been alright,its hard to tell right now as I am going through alot of stress at the moment, I dunno though, I am pretty sure my doctor is right in saying I am going to need 20mg within 30 days.

Adderall will kill your appetite and you'll be able to go for hours without eating - not good for you - it will make your 'crash' at the end of the day worse if you have no energy (i.e food).

Also, if you don't exercise, you're going to have much worse side effects (especially a faster heart rate that makes you feel uncomfortable)

I'm on 30mg and if I exercise, eat and hydrate plenty, I've gotten nothing but benefits out of it.
