I was taking 60mg of Adderall XR for almost 2 years before my MD switched me over to Vyvanse this past visit. Today is my second day taking the 70mg of Vyvanse, and I seem to be very sleepy (less today than I was yesterday...) and I am afraid that my eating (and my weight) will increase because I'm hungry more often than I was on the Adderall.
I usually took the Adderall first thing in the morning, and it would almost immediately wake me up so I could get ready for work or school, but with Vyvanse, the effect takes longer because it has to get through the GI system, and I seem to drag in the mornings and to be tired during the day....
I hate yawning all day, and yesterday, I actually fell asleep on the couch when I went home for my lunch break, which is something I would never have been able to do on the Adderall.
Could it be that I just need to get used to the new drug and then the sleepiness will wear off?
Also- I really hate the idea of gaining weight, I am already trying to loose 30lbs to be back down to 130lbs. (I am 21 years old.) Is there something I could supplement to the Vyvanse to keep me from over-eating?
The dose of Vyvanse you are taking (70mg) is only about half the daily dose of Adderall XR you were on.
70mg of Vyvnase ~ 30mg of Adderall XR
50mg of Vyvanse ~ 20mg of Adderall XR
30mg of Vyvanse ~ 10mg of Adderall XR
Until docs get more hands on experience this will be a problem for many. Typical doctor will think 70mg of this Vyvanse drug is a heavy dose when in fact it isn't for most.

Could be a sign of Adderall withdrawal. It's such a powerful stimulant. Chances are you might of been starting to develop a dependency to it. I was on it almost every day(20 mgs) and when I stopped, my mind was like a rainstorm for about a month. Brain-fog out the ***, depressed, couldn't think, spacy, etc. It's still a little like that but I believe it's just my ADD. It's nowhere near as worse as it was when I got off the Adderall though. It passed after about 4 weeks and now i'm on 30mgs of Vyvanse and switching to 50mgs today. Adderall works better but the drug was wearing my system down.
When I got off of the Adderall it made me realize how important a good nights sleep really is. 4-6 hours of sleep for someone like me will wear them down over time. Physically and mentally. I'd just say "Hell, I don't need to sleep that much tonight, i'll just get by until the Adderall kicks in then I'll be awake. I'd be spacy, but awake.

Just do what I did when I lost over 120lbs a couple years ago without any medication. Drink lots of water, check your scale everyday, and start going on walks/jogs or start going to the gym. Checking your scale everyday seems obsessive, but it'll keep you from cheating or snacking.
Also, 5 meals a day is important. Bowl of cereal for breakfast, then a piece of fruit or something 2 hours later, then something filling but healthy for lunch 2 hours later, then another snack 2 hours later, etc. Find out what works for you. :)

I posted this in the other vyvanse thread, but am posting it here too b/c my daughter used to take adderalXR:
My daughter is 16 and switched from adderalXR 20 mg's to Vyvanse 50MG. She takes it at 6:30am and by 2:30, it's gone--and she really needs to focus for homework-she's in advanced classes. Does anyone take a second dose of vyvanse or anything else? she used to take adderal 10mg @2:30, b/c the adderal XR wore off.
