I just started Chantix (stop smoking drug) yesterday. I'm on 25XR of Adderall once per day. Doesn't seem to be interacting with the Adderall thus far. I'm wondering if anyone can talk about their experience taking Chantix. Thanks.

Very hard to say as Chantix is a fairly new drug for smoking cessation. I never smoked so I never took Chantix. Best of luck with it, and I hope you find the answers your looking for.

Interesting. My father recently started Chantix. Interesting drug in how it blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain. My father tried smoking shortly after taking Chantix and soon put out his cigarette. He said the cigarette was useless and felt 'nothing' after lighting up. Hehehe. Better living through chemistry!

To answer your question, I doubt you will have any side effects from taking both meds.

i didn't feel any problems while on both concerta and chantix. thought that i'd mention it since adderall and concerta are both CNS stim family members; be it a distant relationship or otherwise they're still at the same rodeo.

i'll be able to directly offer info on your question shortly. I just stopped concerta today and start Adderall rx 20mg tomorrow for 30 days to see if it's a better fit than concerta.

If I start watching Opera I'll know that I'm on the crazy train. That's my barometer. Maybe she'll buy me a car.

I take Focalin and tried Chantix. Ended up having a psychotic reaction to it. So I'd be careful mixing it with ADD drugs.

Started taking Chantix about 2 months ago without any of the typical side effects (I'm on 40mg/p/d Dexedrine). Stopped smoking after 5 days and stayed off them for a month & a half but picked them up again last week. Figured I'd better get back on the Chantix & took it for a day but was overcome with depression and haven't taken any since. Not really sure if it was the Chantix or not since I've been feeling boxed in for a while now, but probably a good idea to have someone close to you keep tabs on your mood & behavior at least initially. The stuff really works if you're one of those who can tolerate it, but a lot of people cant. Good luck.

I'm on both in fact I was on Chantix for a couple months before Adderall.

The only side effect I felt with Chantix was a little insomnia. But not a lot.
I smoked regularly for 2 weeks, then I tried to stop, didn't, got down to 1-2 a day, got behind on my pills went back up to about 3-5/day one weekend. Got back down to that one morning one. But mind you, all that was habitual not because I felt any nicotine craving. In fact, I had no idea how much nicotine addiction ruled me until I didn't feel it anymore.

After 4 weeks had gained 10lbs, decided to quit being a brat and just stop. I did - a couple times after that, smoked 2 puffs and thought why? it's gross, nothing good about smoking anymore w/out nicotine rush.

Still taking Chantix (but often forget 2nd pill) and still smoke-free and it's been 3 mos since I stopped. Almost 4. My doc keeps people on Chantix for 6 mos, better success rate he says.

No medication combo problems.

There are Chantix blogs and such on the web that were helpful for me to read.
