I am a 34 yo female recently diagnosed ADHD Inattentive type. Being diagnosed has been nothing short of religious....it has explained my whole life. I began my med trial w/ Ritalin IR 10mg TID. Noticed immediate resluts like feeling calm, being able to focus, improved decision making w/the ability to complete tasks, etc. Very typical, positive reaction. I felt like it could be a bit smoother and wanted something that lasted longer. Switched to Concerta 36 mg. (Is Ritalin even an active ingredient in Concerta?) Of course, I'm kidding. Concerta was definitely smoother, but my ability to focus was not as good as w/ the straight Ritalin. I was probably underdosed. We switched to Adderall just to see how this type of stimulant would effect me. I have to say, I'm not that impressed, but it's only been 3 days (I know, I'm impatient but there was no question w/ the Ritalin IR) I am productive, but there is no thought process going on behind what I am doing. I guess I'm running around a bit, kind of on auto pilot. No increased focus or clarity. How long should I stick w/ the Adderall (10mg BID)? Since there was no guesswork involved in determining if the Ritalin was helpful, should I spend my time trying methylphenidate types of stimulants or stick it out for awhile on the Adderall? Any personal experiences or advice is appreciated. Thanks.
