I started on Adderall XR a couple of months ago. This month I am on 10 mg 2x a day, and I'm trying to figure out what the best method is to space out the doses.

Each dose seems to only really last about 4 hours for me, and I have been eating around 8 AM, taking the first pill around 10 AM, eating again at noon, then taking the second pill around 2.

Do most people take this before or after their meals? If I take it before breakfast, around 7, when should I take the second dose? If you eat first, how long do they recommend waiting before you take it, and vice versa, if you take it and then eat, how long should you wait before eating? Also, what is the absolute latest time I should take the second dose if I want to try to get to sleep by 12 or 1 AM? The second one seems to be more effective than the first, I guess because I already have some medicine in me at that point.

Thanks for any help you can provide, I am just trying to make the most of the doses and have them last the entire day but not keep me from sleeping. Thanks again!! :confused:

I find the I get the best result if I take my 20mg XR on an empty stomach around 7am and then eat 30-45 minutes later. Then I take my second dose of 20mg XR around noon and then eat lunch around 1pm. Hope this helps!
