quick question, sorry if it's been discussed elsewhere already-
i was taking 20mg IR twice a day, then started school and working full time. went back to the doctor because it was wearing off too quickly and would end the day feeling scatterbrained with work still to do. she upped me to 30mg IR twice a day, which lasted a little longer but gave me this unpleasant jittery feeling for about an hour after i took it. sort of too much too quickly, if that makes sense. so i went back, and asked her about the XR, which, from what i had read online, releases half of the medication immediately and then parcels the rest out over about 6-7 hours.
she prescribed me two 30mg XR twice a day for a month to see how it worked out, and i have to say, it was by far the best combination that i've been on so far. smooth hill up starting to work, coasted along fine until about 2-3, took another, no dip in effects, then no problems at night when i was tired and ready for bed. so i went back today, and she told me that she was hesitant to prescribe it again because it was actually a very high dosage.
her rationale for this is that when they say "30mg XR", they actually mean 30mg of medication released twice a day, or something. so is one XR 30mg actually equal to two 30mg IR? that doesn't seem to make sense to me, but i just thought i'd ask around. she ended up giving me the script, but suggested that i go see a psychiatrist, as they would have more experience with this type of dosage. it's not a big deal and i'm going to schedule an appointment, but i was just curious if she was correct and i was now giving myself 120mg of adderall each day.
thanks!
