I just started taking adderall and so far so good. I take it three times a day. I think that I would like more coverage from my dose. A friend suggested XR. Several years ago I took ritalin (hated rebound) and then ritalin sr. I found the sr preparation did nothing at all. Has anyone swiched from one to the other? Have you noticed a difference in the effectiveness or dosing?

I have been told by my P-doc that adderall xr is more smooth than the faster acting tablet ..
I took the tab for the first two weeks so I really was not able to tell a difference between the two ..

I tried Adderall XR 20 mg before I got on regular Adderall. For me, the XR was simply too strong. It helped me focus, but made me feel fuzzy-headed and unable to think well (you know how you feel when you have a really bad cold? it did that to me). However, that is just me! I am now taking 20 mg of regular Adderall, and it does not have these effects. I think they have different effects on different people. I would recommend trying the XR first, simply because many people seem to like it better! If, however, you have any bad side effects, try the regular and see how it works. It all depends on how your body reacts to it! I hope this helped....

Thanks all,
I swiched to the Xr and it seems different, but I have been sick. It doesn'y feel as strong? 20reg to 25xr. I have also notice the xr leaves a different taste in my mouth and my inner ear hurts, but like I said I have been sick. When you swiched was there a change in dosage? I went from reg 20 tabs 3x a day to xr 25 2-3x a day. I have a really long day 6 am to 8 pm. do you think I should try a day off to see if that helps? I feel like my tolerance has gone up, or maybe taking 1 pill in stead of 2 or 3 to readjust my dose?>
