So, as many of you know I've been in a battle with the school and the district for an IEP for Steven. Tuesday we finally had that last crucial meeting to determine eligibility and write up his IEP. Turns out he doesn't qualify. Besides the whole punching and suspension last week he hasn't had any problems in school this year. And since his ADHD/Asperger's isn't adversly affecting his school work, or his classroom time he's all good.
*knock on wood*

Thinking about it I realized that the last few months he's been better then he has been for the last few years! I guess we finally found the right medication for him, and I know the play therapy he attends is really helping him too.

So after months of frustration, yelling, threats, constant calls, it all seems to have been for naught. Thankfully though if things go downhill any time n the next three years all I have to do is get a meeting and figure out what to do. At least we won't have to start from square one again.

*does a little happy dance*

And now he has lunch dention for fighting at school yesterday.
*sigh*

Why is it that once I realize he's doing really well he decideds to revert to previous behavior?

Urghh, Lady Lark! I'm sorry. He is still having more "better" days than "bad" days, though, right? He's going to make mistakes, from the sounds of things though, he's doing much better. Hang in there Lady! :-)

We're sliding into the 50/50 range now. Just a short time ago, he was suspended for fighting, and now this. He's more out of control. You know, being loud, running around like a decapatated chicken. I don't know if he's just having a harder time controling himself, or if he's not trying as hard right now.

Hello,my 8 year old son William was just diagnosed today with adhd, and I am going to his school tomorrow to talk to his teacher let her know I want a daily progress report to let me know how he is functioning with his medication the DR put him on concerta 18mg. So I AM very new to this. The school kept saying for a couple of years, that I should have him checked for adhd, all I thought was the teachers only wanted cookie cutter kids, because they are easier to teach. But William is struggling this year and I did not want him falling further behind. So hear I am. This is such a great place to read about adhd, and get myself educated thanks again

Welcome to the forums, and welcome to crash course parenting. ;)

I wouldn't hold your breath for daily reports unless you pick him up and talk to the teacher every day. Sometimes it's just too hard for them with everything else they have going on. Weekly is good, and notice if something major happened.
