Hello,

I am going to be taking a battery of tests in the near future, and was wondering if anyone knows of an online Wisconsin Card Sorting Test or sample test (preferably free).

Just looking for something to play around with since I've never heard of it or done it before!

Thanks.

Well I am really not into all these "formal test" for ADD but unless some one knows some thing I can't google I doubt you are going to find a "free" one (http://www3.parinc.com/products/product.aspx?Productid=WCSTCV4). They look pretty expensive.

This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconsin_card_sort) explains the testing procedure pretty well.

I agree with you mead but without formal testing it is almost impossible for you to receive any of the things people offer to help those with ADHD. If you just say you have it most times no one will take you seriously or they will assume you just want an excuse to do things differently.

It is supposed to be a test of executive function.

So are:

The Stroop Test

The Trailmaking tests (Trails A &Trails B)http://www.angelfire.com/retro/michaelpoon168/trail_making_test.htm
http://www.fpnotebook.com/NEU80.htm
Various tests of working memory (as it is a component of Exec Fx.) also include ones that test Auditory and Visual Memory (the visuo-spatial sketch pad and phonological loop, as Baddingly {sp} called them.)
e.g. PASAT (adding single digits over time; ADD people bomb this test badly)
http://web.uvic.ca/~robertm/pasat.html

remembering visual word lists or heard word lists (eg after 5-10 mins)
visual object recognition memory (keys, pot, table, apple, camera, pencil...)

You don't have ADHD, I take it?

Or want to come up on your Testing as not having ADHD?

Why do I ask this?

I would say that it is a VERY BAD IDEA to practice the WCST on your own.

If you are going for testing and have ADHD, you can master a test like the WCST to the point where you won't SHOW an impairment.

Might kinda bite if you are looking to be diagnosed !

I know they can't give Asian kids the Tower of London/Tower of Hanoi test b/c they play it for fun in their culture, as a childhood game.

If you are going for testing, I'd suggest that you not get familiar with it, or practice playing with it, in fact.

i was diagnosed at age 6 with ADHD among other things. now that i am in my late 20's, there are things that i want to do in life that do not work with a ADHD diagnosis, so i am going through the tests. if they show ADHD, so be it, however i am hoping that the tests will show otherwise......the results will show one way or another and i am prepared to accept whatever happens!!

These are not the kind of tests that you need to study for. There is no pass/fail. Just show up for the testing and relax.

These are not really the kind of tests that you self-administer or have a friend give to you. They pretty much have to be administered by a trained professional to be considered accurate.

It's well worth the time and money to have it done. It really helps remove doubt and can lead to a proper diagnosis a lot sooner.

I can tell you exactly what an evaluation is like. It is a bunch of tests, many are sort of similar to an IQ test...and they throw in an IQ test too. They might test your handedness and grip strength. They might also test your fine motor function with a simple test. They will test your memory and will try to get at least one measure of attention. The cool part is getting the written evaluation report. What it does is it tells you in clear terms what your strengths and weaknesses are.
