Hi.

I suspect I may have ADHD. In a couple of days, I'll be seeing my psychiatrist (I see her for depression) and I want to bring up the subject but I really don't know what to say. I don't want to come out and say, "I think I have ADHD" - rather, I'd like to explain my symptoms to her and have her come to that conclusion herself. I just don't know how to put it across. Another thing is, I understand ADHD isn't a widely recognised condition in the UK, so I'm afraid that even if I find a way to express myself, she won't pick up the signs.

Does anyone have any advice?

Major thanks in advance.

try simply telling the doc that you think you have adhd. IT's worth a shot.

That's probably the way I would handle it. State my thesis and then give evidence in favor of it. :)

You could try starting out with how you're haveing XYZ issues and see if ADHD is brought up. But if it's not a widly recognized condition in the UK you might not have much luck that way, depending on your doc's knowledge of it.

telling the Doc straight out is probably easier. if you trust her then it shouldn't be a problem, maybe look up the different techniques of diagnosis (tests:urine, blood, scans, ect) so you understand if she is willing to look into it. but theres never a promise of her willing to look into it full heartedly. you'll know her point of view once you talk to her about it.
good luck!

edit: I see theres more than one way to skin a cat, do what you're most comfortable with
