Is that to much in your opinion?!
(I want to avoid the reboud effect which is too hard for me - taking frequently 10 mg Ritalin)
- I don't support RITALINE SA or retard, not at all.

Only your doctor can say if you're taking the right dose.
When I was on Ritalin I took my first dose, then 3 hours later took my next dose, then 3 hours after that took my last dose.
I've done dosing of 20, 20, 10 on the schedule above...and some days another 10 if it was a long day.
I've also tried dosing 20mg first, then 10mg an hour later then 20mg 3 hours after the first dose and 10mg in the afternoon.
None of it ever seemed "too much" but it wasn't any more effective at those doses than taking 10/10/10.
After 7 years on Ritalin I switched to Concerta 36mg. It works better for me but it still doesn't work as well as Ritalin worked the first year I was taking it.

I was taking 20 mg like that in doses, it has to do with the way the drug works with a lot of people, the pain about ritalin is that. But It can work well, so you would have to weigh out the benefits.
If I was only taking the short acting ritalin, I would probably have to do what you are doing as I hate the rebound. But luckily I can take a combination of the short acting and the SR. So right now....I am taking 5 mg of short acting Ritalin 4X a day (about every 3 hours). And with each dose I also take 10 mg of Ritalin SR.
I am still titrating the dose and timing of my meds. And because my evenings are pretty crummy I'm thinking to possibly add one more dose of short acting in the evening.
Anyway, for me, the SR seems to help with the rebound. But if I didn't take the SR, I would probably have to take my meds even more frequently like you. So I would say if it works for you and your doctor is on board then go for it.
Please keep us posted and good luck! :)

Howdy France!
My doc started me on Ritalin IR. I started @ 40 mg for 2 weeks. (2 (10mg) in morning, 2 (10mg) @ lunch) Then he bumped me to 3 x 10 mg in morning, 3 x 10 mg @ lunch and 2 in the afternoon. But it made me sleepy! So he switched me over to Adderall IR. But no, your dosage does not sound unusual. Everyone is different with the way their body adjust to the medication and dosing!

Hey that's exactly how I took my Ritalin a few months ago. Now I take Ritalin LA 30mg, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, this is a lot easier, but I think the 10 mg IR worked better.
Chances are that your doctor will be happy as long as you don't go above 60 mg a day.

I find the ritalin is very short lasting...and the rebound is yuk! If your doc is happy, and that works for you, it'll be fine :-)
I combined the ritalin with dex, so the drop off is a lot less noticable..
